With a nod towards Sean Condon and his essential guide to travelling around Australia, practically the first stop on day 2 (en-route to the Grampians) was Mortlake, Victoria - as you can see, a significant town indeed. It says in Sean's book that there are two towns in Oz that aspire to olivine greatness, the other, being in NSW, is the bogus one.

According to the OED, Olivine is Magnesium Iron Silicate ore, usually olive green and found in igneous rocks. So there ya go...

Tasty breakfast also.
Straight off the plane in Melbourne, after a mere 5 hour delay in Dubai and a full bag search by the friendly Aussie customs (including chosticks in me shampoo bottle - you've gotta wonder) I was met by a very weary looking Warren and Karen (see below).

They were putting me up for the first  week of my stay and had decided to whisk me off for a romantic weekend up the "Great Ocean Road" one of those must see areas of outstanding natural beauty. It was summertime, what could go wrong?

Unfortunately the weather had other ideas - I thought it was just British summertime that was messed up by all that American pollution.....;+>
Me posing like a right twat - Grampian National Park
Wazza and Kazza - not a bad backdrop, eh?
"Kill the Arsenal fan!" - Amusing hi-jinks up a Grampian.
