Meetings: Fall 2008

01 September

This meeting was the organizational meeting for the year. We introduced ourselves and then discussed topics we would like to cover this year, activities to do, when elections are held, our campout and when meetings should be held. We decided to do the campout the weekend of the 13th this month. Meetings will now be held on Fridays at 6:00pm. Our next meeting will be held this friday (the 5th) in the Commons. We plan to talk about meditation and visualization.

05 September

We started with a quick overview about the basics of meditation. Then we each shared our own experiences with meditation and visualization. Left is a list of possible meditations/visualizations you can try on your own. We also finalized the details of the Pagan Campout scheduled for Friday the 12th.

12 September

The next meeting will be held at Joel's house (on the 19th) at 6:00. It will be an introduction into palmistry. Angela will be at the Commons at 5:30 and anyone intending to walk there can meet with her.

19 September

The meeting was lead by Brandy and Angela and described the basic hand shapes. (see left icon)
Campout pictures are posted on the activities page! If you feel uncomfortable with having your picture on the web, please contact Angela so she can take them off.
The next meeting will be at Trevor's apartment. A walking group is organized, so if you wish to partake, meet at the Commons at 5:30. This meeting will be for learning about the lines of the palm.

26 September

We covered the lines of the palm as well as flexibility tests, finger characteristics, and a brief intro to mounts. We decided to start sending out a weekly e-mail to remind everyone of meetings. Fundraising was brought up, and members seemed to want to do it, so we will try to bring ideas of fundraisers to the next meeting and decide then what we will do.
Next meeting will be held at Trevor's apartment at 6:00. We meet at the Commons at 5:30 for transportation. I also added Trevor's contact information to the Information page, so you can check that out if you need directions. The meeting topic will be Astrology. We may be discussing officer positions.

03 October

We decided on the specifics of this year's fundraiser. We will be making hemp jewelry adorned with pagan symbols, such as runes, to sell. Preparation will be Sunday, the 19th of October.
For our Halloween get together, we will be having it Saturday, the 1st of November.
This meeting pertained to Astrology, focusing mostly on Western astrology, but we touched briefly on Chinese astrology. We played a flash card game of zodiac symbols to see who got the most right. Anna was victorious!
Next meeting will be lead by Keegan and will pertain to Runes. We will meet at 6:00 in the commons and will find a nice place outdoors to congregate (if the weather's not bad).
Angela has now put up a posting for our club on witchvox.com. Apparently, we're the only college Pagan group in Idaho. Check it out!

10 October

    We decided to do, instead of a fundraiser, a craft day. This will be held Sunday the 19th of October at 1:00 at Targee. Chris will be getting some small wood discs cut for us, and Keegan and Jeff will be purchasing supplies. (Try to bring a few bucks with you on the craft day, to help reimburse them.)
     Keegan gave some basic historical background on runes for us. He also provided handouts and passed around pretty pictures of runes carved into stone.
     Next meeting will be held at 6:00 at Targee. Anna will be presenting "water witching" and Chris will be talking about Technopagans.

17 October

Chris informed us about technopagans and Anna brought in her witching rods, which cross when near a water source, or apparently, near Keegan's necklace. The Craft Day is this sunday at 1:00.
Next meeting will be at Trevor's at 6:00. You know the drill. The meeting will be about massage. Also, we'll be watching a movie after the meeting, so bring your favorite Halloween-type movies!

24 October

Trevor showed us the major forms of massage and we got to practice on each other while watching "The Lost Boys" movie.
We will not be meeting next week (October 31st), but rather the next (November 7th). We will be holding elections and Angela will be conducting a guided visualization. Same place. Same time. Meet at the Commons at 5:30 for a ride there.

03 November

The new elected officers are as follows:
     President: Angela
     Vice Pres: Anna
     Treasurer: Trevor
     Secretary: Carmen
     Communications Coordinator: Jeff
     Historian: Samm
Angela lead two guided visualizations after the elections. Ideas were also discussed for an activity on Saturday or Sunday, the 15th or 16th respectively. Come with ideas for next meeting! The next meeting will be held at Carmen's apartment. Meet at the commons at 5:30 and prepare to walk a short distance. Anna and Angela will be leading the meeting about Tarot. If you have a tarot deck, please bring it!

14 November

Anna lead beginning Tarot reading. Also, we planned an outdoor activity. We will be going to Jerry Johnson Hot Springs on Saturday, November 22. We will be camping over night. We will meet at the Rec Center on Saturday at 7 A.M. It is a long drive, so dress comfy. If you know any one who wants to come along, they are welcome!
Drivers are: Megan, Joel, and Anna.

We WILL meet next week to furthur discuss camping plans and finish up Tarot, so bring your decks! The meeting will be at Joel's, so meet at the Commons at 5:30 for a ride.

21 November

There will not be a meeting on the week of Thanksgiving. Therefore, the next meeting will be held on Friday, December 5th at Trevor's house. Meet at 5:30 at the Commons for rides.

Last minute plans were made for the camping trip for Saturday, November 22. It seems that only Trevor, Megan, Anna, and Carmen will be able to go camping. Megan and Anna are still driving and we will meet at the Recenter at 7:00 on the 22nd of November.

Activities were discussed. Candle making will be during the December 5th meeting. Any extra pans, wax, molds, wicks, etc, will be great to have!

Also, Angela suggested that we make a field trip to a Spokane reader on the third Saturday in January! Those at the meeting agreed that the field trip sounds great! We will discuss more about this at other meets.

Angela finished the Tarot discussion with the Major Arcana. She also gave hints on selecting the right Tarot deck for you and the proper way of cleansing the decks. We talked about holding readings after the meetings as a way of practicing with the cards.

05 December

We made candles instead of having an actual meeting. We all brought various candle making implements and experimented on making various types of candles. We made candles with various colors, scented oils, herbs, and molds. We came out with some pretty cool candles! Anna also shared her knowledge of the meaning of candle colors!

This was the last meeting of the semester. Stay tuned for updates on when and where the next meeting will be. Be thinking of topics that you would like to explore with the new year. We wish you all a good break!
