IN THE MIND OF A PAEDOPHILE
What is paedophilia? What triggers them to perform sexual acts on children? How can we protect our children? How to spot the warning signs! Child pornography and paedophiles on the internet.
What makes them the way there are?
A paedophile is a person obsessed with children usually before puberty or often under the age of ten.
Paedophiles don't always realise their fantasies of sexually abusing or killing a child, but may just collect pornographic photos, children's toys or anything relating to child sex in books, magazines or on the internet. 95% of paedophiles are male.
They usually find a way to be around children without raising suspicion. They apply for teaching jobs, school bus drivers, sports coaches, scouts masters, even priests! Any job that can make the paedophile close to children, especially without parental supervision is appealing to them. Many paedophiles will marry a single mother just to be around her young children. They keep their sexual fantasies towards children a great secret.
Many paedophiles carry their fantasies into reality. They turn into child molesters usually around their late twenties or in their thirties. They usually have no self-esteem, have mis-treated friends, spouse and family and have a seething resentment to society in general. They are often loners with failed marriages but will stay in a relationship to mask their true intentions. Sadly the partner may know about her hubby's obsession but stay quiet to avoid social stigma and disgrace.
Some paedophiles and child killers were abused themselves in childhood. Some were adopted or hated their fathers. Some men were treated like little girls when they were young, given dolls to play with etc. There can be a history of mental illness in the family tree. Many claim to like the feeling of being in control of young bodies and their lives. They all have a great fascination in pornography.
Most children that are sexually abused or abducted by a paedophile knows the person well and trusts him. A paedophile may get a child obsessed with him by buying presents, food and sweets, toys, going to funfairs etc. If a child has a troubled family he will pretend to be a good listener and comforter, sympathising with the child, gaining their trust and love. A young child easily forms a bond with this person and trusts him entirely.
Paedophiles often have frequent and unexplained changes in residences and employment and is unwilling to discuss why he lost his last job. He may have a past that he cannot talk about.

If you suspect a paedophile you may convince yourself that what you are seeing or hearing is untrue. You are in shock and denial. The paedophile will deny anything you try to blame him with and play it down profusely saying things like, 'I was only bathing her'...'I was just hugging her' or 'you know I love her, I'd never hurt her'. If you think any adult, friend, neighbour or anyone is paying excessive attention to your child or any other talk to your spouse or someone you can trust. Most importantly, talk to the child!! They often show behavioural changes like complaining of frequent nightmares or developing a new fear of familiar places or a person. These are strong warning signs!! They often have an awareness of sex-related words, genitals or drawings of sexual themes. You must look for signs of sexual abuse in your child, especially around the genital area and anus, look out for unexplained bleeding or bruising in that area too.
A paedophile will cover himself by referring to children as 'pure' 'innocent' God-sent' 'blissful' or other excessive labels. They may decorate a room in a child's theme, collect toys, build models of cars or trains etc.
A peadophile often interracts with others like himself on the internet. They are just a few clicks away from each other at any time of day or night. The internet has turned out to be the greatest advancement in the history of paedophilia. The Seattle Times reported that by 1998 more than 1500 suspected paedophiles in 32 various states have been identified in various chatrooms. The internet is an easy access to pornography, and photos of young children.
If your child has a PC and is on the internet, go in frequently to check if he/she is in chatrooms, porn sites, or talking to strangers in private chat. Paedophiles lure children in chatrooms by pretending to be not much older than the child he is talking to, they then develop a deep and lasting friendship. If the paedophile lives near enough, he could easily meet up with the child. There are links coming shortly to sites that help you to protect your children to paedophiles on the internet, and how to prevent your child being abducted etc. Please ensure the safety of your children at all times, remember, it is often a person your child knows well that will harm him/her.
