Cultures & History There are four main cultures that appear in the country of Crecimiento. There's the Vireille (Vir-ay), the Gypsies, the Challies, and the Atarians. The Gypsies travel in small groups, rarely meeting in large groups. At one point a council declared that they were dirty scavengers and were to be killed upon site. Though the law has become obsolete, there is still prejuidce against them. The Vireille are mostly mystics, devoted to magic and such. Few of them are warriors, though you find some of them too. In looks they tend to have silver, black or red hair and light eye colors, such as grey, blue and green. Most of them do not involve themselves much with the Atarians, and merely stay out of their way. The Atarians think they're the greatest thing to ever set foot on the earth. They have control of the country and it's government, and have set up a social class system based on money. In looks, they're a mix of every race--an Atarian could be anyone you see on the street. The Challies are farmers to the bone. They're small, bird-like in build and don't often assosiate with other cultures. They tend to be of darker complexion and so on, though there is the odd one thrown in. They live in less then ideal conditions at the best of times, and are prone to sickness and parisites.

Magic The magic system is fairly simple, consisting of five major powers: Earth, Fire, Air, Water and Spirit. One who uses magic can only specilize in one of the major powers. Following medeval tradition, magic is generally frowned upon, unless it's of the healing type. Healing can be found mainly in Spirit, but also spreads occasionally to Water and Air. Keep in mind that one who heals with Water or Air magic would probably be less adept at it then one who heals with Spirit.

Goverment A council of members of all the races in the country (all those who decide to show up, anyway) meets twice a year, or whenever a series problem occurs to decide what needs to be done, and how to do it. Majority rules. Naturally, there is heavy drinking involved, often resulting in large brawls when opposing sides of an issue get tired of being diplomatic. Often times there will be more than one, or even four, members of a certain race there because of.. disagreements (problems with voting, maybe, or civil wars, etc) within the groups of races. Like any societry, ours has it's problems, but the council (when sober) can generally manage to meet, pass a law or two, and not kill eachother in the process (though, for some odd reason, the assasians love these particular get-togethers)...

Religion Religion is widely spread here, and rarely persecuted for. Atarians have Mother and Father god systems, whereas the Gypsies worship the earth, but have no particular religion, just certain customs that have been followed in their society. The other two races base their religion on seperate Gods and Goddess. For each of the five elements, mentioned in the Magic section, there is a Goddess and a God. Each person worships one of the many. |
