Uniforms can be purchased at the Occoneechee Council Scout Shop on Atlantic Avenue in Raleigh. Don't wait until the last minute! Tiger Cubs have a special T-shirt, which is all that is required for them. Wolves and Bears must have a blue Cub Scout shirt, a scarf, a slide for the scarf, and a belt. Webelos have the same requirements, except that they may wear a tan shirt instead of blue. Use this list as a guide:
On the left sleeve, you will need to sew on the Occoneechee Council emblem and the Pack 486 numeral, in the same positions as the "Paul Bunyan Council" and "12". Pack 486 will supply you with the Pack numeral free of charge, and with the Occoneechee Council patch for the $3.00 it costs the Pack.
When you buy a Wolf, Bear or Webelos shirt, the U.S. flag will already be on the right sleeve. You will need to sew the Den number or Den emblem (for Webelos) below the flag, as shown. Pack 486 will supply you with the Den number or emblem free of charge.
The Bobcat, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, and Arrow of Light awards must be sewn on the left pocket as shown. Arrow points are also sewn on, below the left pocket. Sew them on well enough so that they won't come off during rough play, but not so well that they can't be taken off and moved to a larger uniform as your boy grows. All of these badges and emblems are supplied by the Pack as well.
The Boy Scouts of America strip is pre-sewn on the uniform. The Progress Toward Ranks badge for Scouts and the Compass Points Emblem for Webelos (not shown) are attached to the right pocket button on the shirt. Note also that the Tiger Cubs strip is sewn below the right pocket. |
