| Saturday August 10, 2001 First today, we started work on the assassination scene. I found out I don't just run away as a palanquin bearer but actually get to DIE! COOOL!!! Shortly after the fight scene, we worked "Chrysanthemum Tea" but I had to go to the costume room for my fitting. I got to try about 6 or so costumes. I must say I really like the look of all the Japanese costumes (hakama, kimono, etc). I didn't like wearing the "Zori" - split toe sandals - but I guess since I only wear them for one scene that's ok. I can't wait to see the British ambassador costume when it's done... |
After fittings (which took an hour and a half), we took lunch. After lunch we started the rest of the work thru, starting from "Four black dragons" to "Bowler hat". Everone was so good! The Kanagawa girls were hysterical! Erwin was simply amazing as Admiral Perry /Red Lion! I really do enjoy Tony Nam's performance in every scene he is in. I think he has great stage presence! It's hard not to notice him, first of all, since he is one of the taller people in the show. I believe he has great energy in each role he plays. Everyone loved the "Hello Please!" number. Hisato, of course was the favorite. "Tsubarashi!" Overall, a great rehearsal. I think now we're down to polishing the show.... |
