PACIFIC OVERTURES
Rehearsal Journal Page 6

Today, my rehearsal started at 3 pm. I left work  at 2 pm, to allow for traffic.  Arriving at the studios with a few minutes to spare I decided to check out the box office.  I saw Vicky, our assistant director, who took me to the box office and introduced me to Cassie.  She was able to help me reserve some fairly good seats (VIP) for my family on the last saturday night show.  Looks like most of the nights are already booking up. I better send that email to tell everyone to get tickets if they can....

After checking on the tickets, I went into the rehearsal studio to start rehearsing the solo dance parts with Francis.  I don't know why I had the hardest time learning my part but it took me quite a few tries.  It looks really easy, and probably is, but I certainly found a way to make it difficult.  Thank goodness Francis is a very patient person...

Otherwise, the dancing  seemed to go fairly well and I was let go at 6 pm to enjoy the rest of the night off since they were rehearsing the scenes that didn't need me (the emperor scenes).

Well, We worked the first number again. It was embarrassing that I not only couldn't remember some of my blocking but also found out I didn't take very good notes the first time we blocked this scene.  At least, it seemed I wasn't alone in this because other people were asking me questions too.  After blocking/re-blocking the opening number, we started our work-thru and got as far as "Four black dragons", at which time Rebecca, our Fearless Stage Manager excused us for the evening (since it was 11 pm).

I joined several castmembers (let's see, they were, Alex, Erwin, Lawrence Thoo, Edmond, Hisato, Nicole and Dana.) for cocktails at Saint Steven something -or-other in mountainview (on castro st) near the center of performing arts where we will be performing....
Francis directs the people behind the screens...
