Tonight we worked several scenes: "Bowler Hat," "Pretty Lady," "Assassination" and "Please Hello". I'm not sure why but I just can't seem to get a handle on the character of the British Admiral. I tried a gruffer, deeper "more-major-generally" but Billy and everyone else didn't seem to like the character choice. To me, of course, it sounds more British, but then I think I lose volume, lose diction and have to use twice or thrice as much air.
I guess I won't keep trying that....
Today is Kuya's Birthday! I feel very bad that I will be spending most of the day rehearsing but at least I'll be able to spend dinner with them. Eryn (aka "White Rice") is hosting a party/sleep-over at her house tonight as well. I told her that IF I come it won't be until much later (like maybe around 2 am or so). I asked Hisato to call me when people start going to sleep so I''ll know whether to bother coming or not...
As for rehearsal, we continued to work through the show and worked on more scenes.
I realized that the schedule was changed, however, and discovered about 20 minutes too late that I was supposed to be in the costume room for a fitting. Rebecca told me however that she does have a handle on the schedule and is aware that the fittings are running late and will therefore send me to them when they are ready. We were working the treaty house/ "Someone in a tree" number when the costume shop sent for me.
Once there, George, Ardith and Fumiko worked on a number of fittings -- primarily the British Admiral/Ambassador outfit. It is really neat to see them change this British guard (I think Ardith said it was a Scottish Guard jacket) into Fumiko's rendering. Well, I don't see it yet, since all I see are pins, needles and muslin augmenting the actual coat (which was originally made for someone 6'7" tall with very long arms), but I'm sure it will turn out "just dandy!
