The kitchen stood silently by its self. The sink full of dirty dishes from days before, neither having the energy to really do it; the pizza box from dinner lay open on the table, the left over pieces had long since gone cold; the benches need a wipe down, the fridge needed a clear, Joey had been meaning to do if for days after realizing it was starting to stink; but like it was said neither had the energy to do much these days.
The rain had started to lighten up a short while go but hadnt stop completely yet. Standing by window near the back door she could clearly see the rain fall down upon the yard. Holding a hand to her neck, she tried not to tremble; she could still feel the coldness, the fear and the pain.
She tried not the think, but in doing that all she could do was think.
Whats he doing?
Is she looking after him?
Am I looking after Amy right?
Why did he have to leave now?
I miss you all so much.
Hey.
She didnt jump when she heard his voice; she had felt his presence along time go. He had stood in the doorway watching her; she had noticed him doing that a lot lately, before moving to stand close to her. She closed her eyes a moment, swallowing the lump in her throat, as she felt his body heat warm her insides again.
How is she?
They didnt bother to look at each other, instead tried to find solace in the rain outside in the yard.
Shes asleep, took her a while but she seems peaceful.
She nodded; tightening her arms around herself, for fear of if she opened her mouth again she would break down for the second time that night.
He resisted looking at her for as long as possible, knowing it could only end badly. As so his gaze faulted, he couldnt tear his eyes away from her fragile form, knowing he was one of the reasons she was the way she was. He sucked in a shaky breath, knowing the longer he stood there, the less will power he had in controlling his emotions.
I guess I should get home, while the rain has lightened up.
She nodded, sucking in a shaky breath of own, when the word home passed his lips. Lowering her gaze to the ground, she hoped he couldnt tell she was of the verge of crying again.
He looked at her, wishing she would look at him.
Ask me to stay
Please dont go
Look at me, turn around and look at me, Joey
Please dont walk away
Say anything
Please dont go, I need you
Just give me a sign that you want me to stay and I will.
Please dont go
He hung his head, knowing that he wasnt going to get what he wanted. He moved to leave, looking at her once more.
Ask me to stay
Stay
She closed her eyes tight, knowing he was leaving again. Every night she silently pleaded with him to stay. Every night since he had stayed the night after the funeral, but every night he left and she was left alone.
Alone and terrified.
She could never quite voice her fears until it was too late. She never had the strength or the courage, for fear that he would just keep walking out on her. She couldnt blame him if he did, she could only blame herself. The heartache and pain she had put him through, she couldnt bare it anymore than he could.
She felt the coldness in the air, surrounding her again and she knew he had left again. She could feel the emptiness in the room around. The sink was still full, the benches still dirty and the fridge still stunk but her heart her heart broke a little more.
Lifting her gaze back to the yard again she let the tears fall that she had been holding back since the moment he had taken Amy from her.
