Back to Work at the Lord of the Flies Middle School

It was like a snowball warzone as the children of Bishop Reindorp stepped outside for their recess break. It was the first major snow that these students had seen in 7 years, and it was impossible not to get caught in the crossfire of snow thrown back and forth in the school yard. Snow ended up throughout the school, in hallways, in classrooms, and even in the computer labs. You would think they had never seen snow before in their lives! In addition to throwing snow, students built a gigantic snowball to block off one of the mainentrances to the school yard. Well, you must admire their creativity!

School Teacher Nearly Stranded!

For teachers in England, term and half term breaks present an opportunity to travel. For the Christmas school term break, however, one teacher got more travel experience than she bargained for! Ms. Foufas was hoping for a relaxing holiday in Greece when she decided to travel to Athens to visit relatives for the Christmas break. It was turning out to be a great holiday until Ms. Foufas had her wallet pickpocketed by thieves in downtown Athens. Left with nothing but a passport, an airmiles card and her British
national insurance number, Ms. Foufas was left with the daunting task of having to make the journey back to England with no money, no cards and one sole piece of identification. (with an embarassingly bad passport photo!) Thanks to the quick thinking of her mother and the wonderful hospitality of her Greek relatives, Ms. Foufas was able to get a loan to travel back to England. Despite this, however, upon reaching London, however, Ms. Foufas almost had to hitchhike back to her place of residence. The travel money ran out with the ticket from Stansted Airport to Liverpool Street Station, and Ms. Foufas was left with just enough for one tube ticket. It was a stroke of luck that Ms. Foufas's bank was open until 4pm on a Saturday, and she was able to get enough money to make the journey back to her town, but not before losing the tube ticket in a machine and having to fight with a tube worker to get it back!
