Down and
out in Guildford and ![]() Martian statue in Woking's townCentre Since moving to England, Edmonton resident, Patricia Foufas has narrowly escaped homelessness. After moving halfway across the world to seek her fortune, Ms. Foufas has found herself having to move from her posh suburban English residence to former council housing for Surrey teachers. In a bizarre turn of events, Ms. Foufas has found herself minus one roomate and out of the town of Dorking. The change of plans was the |
unexpected result of a housing situation that was less than ideal. The maid turned out to be really cranky, and Ms. Foufas didn't stick around long enough to meet the gardener. Perhaps the most disturbing discovery about the residence in Dorking, however, was the prescence of a certain 47 year old piece of the furniture, who seemed to have no particular plans to leave. |
The piece of furniture was one of the owners of the property and seemed to extend his stay with the increasing number of young women that arrived. This unforseen situation left one young resident practically hitching a ride back to Canada, and Ms. Foufas scrambling to find more appropriate housing! All appears to have worked out in the end as Foufas narrowly escaped a weekend of homelessness by accepting a room in a house in a neighboring town called Woking. One expensive and hurried cab ride later, Foufas found herself in a comfortable home in a town famous for being the setting for H.G. Wells' famous sci fi thriller, War of the Worlds. |
