Anya and I have traveld over to another town. To our surprise, it was just like the other that we had stayed in. I began to believe this was what the voices wanted me to see... I only wish that I knew what they want me to do...
Act 2: Dreams and Visions
Anya was a bit startled to see this town with nothing but houses. It even got to me as well. Who or what could have left two small towns into a ghost town? It made no sense to me as to why, yet... I wanted to investigate...
I went into a shop that was still open. The keeper was already dead over the counter. The only difference is that the body had not yet decompose. I feared the worst beliving that whoever martyred these people might not be too far off. Just to be sure, I took a carton of milk and drank its contents. To my surprize, it was still freash. Knowing the man over the counter wasn't going to care, I took supplies for the road. Anya was a little worried when I mentioned that we would be close to whoever murdered these people.
"Do you think they'll come after us, Ruben?" she asked me in concern. I hoped they wouldn't, but they killed innocent people.
"Don't worry... I'll protect you," I answered.
She seemed more at ease with me. I don't really mind at all, since I did rescue her from the desert. However, I don't like the feelings that I have been going through lately. I pray it is nothing...
As we traveled on, Anya had to pause for a moment. She seemed tired and wanted to rest. I agreed, even though I wasn't tired. We ate a bit to keep our strength up for the journey ahead. While we were eating, Anya just popped up a question.
"How do you keep going and not rest?"
"... I do rest. That's an odd question to ask," I replied in defense. But she was right. When I was in the desert, I never stopped. Not even for water when the heat made me thirst. Am I normal?
"I don't mean to be rude. It's just that we walked for at least twenty miles. Don't you think that's just pushing it?" she said.
"I suppose you're right. There is no need to rush things, or we would surely run into those bad people," It was agreed that we would camp out for the night. To be quite honest, I don't recall even sleeping when we stayed in the house of the first town...
I went to sleep peacefully that night. I was extreamely tired and didn't care if didn't rest at all. I was resting now and that's what mattered to me now.
In my sleep, I heard the same voices. They were calling out to me again
Help us! Please! We beg of you!
"WHO ARE YOU!?" I shouted out. Their voices cried out in pain as I wanted to help them. All I could hear is their plea for help.
"HOW CAN I HELP!?" I asked.
Go east! Please! Help us!
I woke up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat. Was I dreaming again? It felt so real. Why am I seeing all this? I turned to Anya who was still asleep. I won't disturb her and look around a bit. When I got up I hit my head on something. It felt like a ceiling. It was more like a cage. What is happening? Before me were bars and beyond that, an odd-looking person was eating what looked like slop. It then dawned on me that we were prisoners. But what did we do? I decided to find out and I began to rattle the cage. He took notice as he stuffed his face.
"So you're up!" the man said with his mouth full. "Too bad. I'm on lunch right now, otherwise, I'd tell the capn'."
"What do you want from us?!" I demanded. He ignored me as he continued to stuff his face. I wouldn't stand for being ignored like this. All of a sudden, something just snapped in my head. I felt rage within me that cried to be released. With all of my might, I tore the bars like paper and charged at the slob. It happend so fast that he ended up choking on his meal. I attacked him furiously with everything I had and then threw him towards the wall. The impact caused him to spit out the food he was choking on. It hit me on my chest as I walked over to him.
"Now... What do you want from us?" I said calmly. He looked at me and I could sense his fear. He knew I wasn't playing and I would tear him apart if he didn't answer. Unfortunately, I never did get my answer. Something struck me in the back of my head as I was knocked out. Who was it?....
