Snake can you hear me!? SNAAAKKKEE!!!
Metal Gear Solid 2 is a tough game to review it's harder then most reviews I have done simply for the fact I loved the original so much and had such high expectations for the sequel.... well actually I would've just been happy if they used the same graphics engine and even make it a Psone game if it were to continue the adventures of the, Solid Snake. Thankfully, that's not what Kojima san did instead he and his hard working team cranked out one of the most beautiful games the Playstation 2 has ever seen. A few months from now it might not be the best but I'm betting after the PS2's life is over this one will still be remembered as one of the best looking games the system has had.But as you've been told many times before looks aren't everything (if anyone tells Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit people that i'm gonna have to hurt someone) thank goodness though Metal Gear Solid 2 does not rest on it's laurels of being a just beautiful game, that's not to say there isn't any problems though. The game starts out a few years after the Shadow Moses incident in MGS the story seem to take place as if the true ending to MGS was where Meryl died and Snake and Otacon were the only survivors other than Ocelot. The opening cinema of MGS 2 starts out with a lone man walking on a bridge in a trenchcoat as a tanker comes closer to passing under the bridge the man walks slowly puffing on a cigarette (yeah Snake didn't read the smoking is bad for your health signs at Assassin school) as we all know this man is Snake as the tanker finally reaches directly under the bridge Snake sprints toward the guard rail on the bridge sending his trenchcoat flying off as he initializes his stealth camo he recieved from Otacon at the end of MGS . Snake is tied to a bungie cord and quickly makes a descent down to the tanker landing hard on the tanker and breaking the camo, after Snake lands we see a chopper in the air above him a man with a binoculars watches as Snake looks around on the tanker the camera show us his face and it is Revolver Ocelot who says to someone "Right on schedule......he'll know soon enough." as will we all.........
