The different groups of Dominican Voodun are divided up into several rites or sects called, The 21 Divsions, (21 Divisiones in Spanish). Primarily, we use 3 basic ones called, Division Blanca, India, y Negra meaning White, Indian and Black Divisions. Usually, those Loas that belong to the "White Division" are part of the "Rada" sect. They are "sweet" in there nature and content, generaly non-violent. The Petros are the spirits of our "frustrated"ancestors. They are violent in nature and are very hot! Normally, when the take possession of a horse, they will spit up blood, stick pins in there bodies (meaning the body of the horse) and eat glass. There ceremonies are very fierce!
