GETTING TO THE SITE
On November 12, 1994 we pulled onto a small patch of open ground on our property in the Ozark Region of southeastern Missouri to begin our little dream.  The day happended to be misty, humid and cool.  We unpacked and secured the trucks' contents, built a mailbox (akin to planting a flag these days... ), mapped out a clearable and drivable path to our future building site and starting cutting our way in.
The road  to our building site turned out to be exactly one-half mile in length.  We followed the path of least resistant, taking out as few big trees as possible and stayed on high ground..  It took us 12 days.
The road would need alot more work done to it in the future, but for now it was good enough to allow us to pull our camper back to the building site.
Within the first month, we had established the "work camp" and had begun cutting and dragging logs to the drying area.  The marks in the road are from the logs being skidded by the truck.  The hard part was getting the felled and bucked timber out of the woods and on to the road.  We opted for chains, ropes and pulleys, allowing the two-wheel-drive vehicle to remain on the path.
