Here is an example of how we were able to drag the logs to the building site. After pulling them on to the path using ropes, pulleys and the truck, we chained two together and moved them to the stacking area.
Here at the building site, the logs were moved by hand to two piles to cure.
We began the task of peeling the logs with drawknives in March of 1995. The first two days were fun, then it became tedious. Then, painful. By opting to fell the trees in Winter, we beat the insect problem, but the sap in the trees remains "down" and the bark becomes difficult to remove. We averaged about five logs per day.
