What the [BLEEP] is an OzDariaCon?

OzDariaCon = Australian Daria Convention.  OzDariaCon 2001 will be the first of its kind to take place on Ecksian soil (as you can gather, some of us, including the webmyster, are Terry Pratchett nuts as well), and it's gonna be [BLEEP]ing fantastic!

Where is it going to take place?

This may vary. At the moment, it looks like it's going to be at a flat somewhere in suburban Brisbane (that is, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia for those who want exact geographical details).  If you're interested in coming to OzDariaCon, talking to TAFKA will get you the address.  Giving said address to your friends to your friends so they can crash the Con will cause all the ConArtists to come down on you like a ton of bricks - but more likely shovels.  And you'll [BLEEP]ing well deserve it, too. However, the actual venue may be relocated if this thing gets a lot of people involved, maybe to a hall or something. These details will be worked out closer to the date.

Sorry, but before we go on, what are ConArtists?

The people involved in the Con at present.  Basically a fancy name for participants.

Oh.  Now that that's cleared up, when is it going to take place?

OzDariaCon will take place on Saturday, 20th January, 2001.

I can't get to the Con.  *sob*  How can I experience it?

Bummer.  Anyway, if you want to experience the con, going through this site's a bloody good start.  However, it's a good bet that certain people will be on IRC during the con - consult Geoff's article "#Daria+ - The Untold Story" for details.

Okay - so I want to become a ConArtist.  How do I get to Brisbane?

If you're already there, no problem.  If you aren't... that's where the fun starts.  Going by coach or train is probably your best bet.  Here are a couple of helpful links to try out: Countrylink, Greyhound and Virgin Blue.  If they're a bit costly for you, and I wouldn't be too surprised, shop around.  As for overseas ConArtists... well... either take a long plane trip or have fun swimming.

Accomodation?

All the places at home base (aka TAFKA's place) have been filled. There are a few places (ie. hotels, motels, hostels, etc.) in the local area (though I don't know what they are) so talk to TAFKA and she'll give you information about them.

Food?

BYO - Buy Yer Own. Bring money - it is extremely likely that there will be pizza present... and hopefully Pizza Hut's online ordering service will be up and running by then... :)

I heard something about a T-shirt...

Talk to TAFKA.  Or get said design here and print your own.  The design's by Geoff, BTW, so now you know who to blame. :)

Any rules?

Noise levels should be kept down to a dull roar... and TAFKA will not, repeat NOT permit any shipper wars on her premises at any time... it's a take that attitude and shove it thing, apparently. Also, you break it you bought it... especially in regards to TAFKA's artwork. General visiting people rules apply.
