General Comment:
The health of the AUSTRALIAN BULLDOG is more important than their looks. Therefore this Standard should be viewed as a guide not a straitjacket. The idea of enthusiasts in creating this new breed is to have a dog, clearly of Bulldog type, but with none of the physical limitations of the British Bulldog.

Here is our tail policy:
Keeping in mind we are PRIMARILY concerned with the health of our dogs any tail length - that is short, crank, full length etc - is perfectly acceptable. Docking will fairly soon become illegal and is certainly not in the health interests of the animal. We leave it up to individual breeders whether they dock or not while the procedure is still legal. However we DISCOURAGE the very tight screw tails as per some British Bulldogs because these certainly do lead to health problems. Keep in mind that American Bulldogs, Staffordshire Bull Terriers and BullMastiffs are all 'bull' breeds and all have long tails. Also keep in mind that a WAG is very attractive!
