About the Ohio Wesleyan Equestrian Team
As a team member, you ride horses and use tack provided by the coach during riding lessons. At shows, the horses and tack are provided by the host college.

We draw straws before each class to see which horse we get to ride. Horses are matched to the level of each class of riders.

We try to share our show clothes until new members are sure they want to ride and show. Then we encourage them to go out and purchase their own clothes to share with the team.

Our coach does not board horses.

Activities include riding lessons once a week and shows four weekends a year; so, there will still be plenty of time for studying.

The team was started in the early 1990s by OWU students.

It is a club sport that funds it activities through fund raising, an OWU Student Activies Office sponsorship, and club dues.

The goal is to keep dues low so that everyone can afford to be a part of the team.

Dues include riding lessons, show fees, IHSA fees, hotel fees and all other costs.

This year we hope to keep dues around $200 a semester or less.

We have both hunt seat and western teams and are always looking for students who have never ridden before as well as advanced riders. There are many divisions in IHSA competition and we would like to fill them all which means we need all levels of riders.

If you like horses, you are qualified!
