| Love Triangles Theyre Everywhere!
By Tyler K eegan Due to the highly unequal male to female ratio around Hogwarts, its no wonder almost everyone is involved in some sort of love triangle! Lets face it; no one wants to be alone, especially with Valentines Day coming up just around the corner. From what Ive observed during my time here, males that arrive usually fall prey to hungry females within their first week. Its not long before we find out that theyre spoken for, & for some (mainly the other girls that were vying for his attention & failed) that comes as a blow. Whats left to do at that point? Under normal circumstances, these scorned females would move on to green pastures & hope for the best. Around here, though, thats generally not the case! This is the point when a love-triangle usually ensues. It starts when the other girls who didnt win said males affections start talking about him in their dorms to their friends. From there they begin making RPG plots with the girl who won the young lads heart looking for approval that they are allowed to hit on her man. Usually the girl gives it & thus the RPG love-triangles begin. I have to say in the males defense, were usually the last ones to know. So whats a guy to do at this point? If he wants to keep his girlfriend happy, he has to play along because by this time shes sold on the idea & really excited about having a guy that everyone else is pining for. Disappoint her & youre out on your ear waiting to be devoured by all those in waiting for the day when youre single so the cycle can start all over again. But, lets be honest here.Im sure most of you are asking what guy doesnt get a little bit of an ego boost from knowing hes a hot commodity? It would probably be a little more flattering for us if this were the real world where the ratio between males & females were more equal & we actually thought the girls were into us for who we are. Here at Hogwarts, though, its a whole other ballgame. Being the chosen one for the sake of having bragging rights to coupledom isnt quite the same as saying, Hey, youre awesome & I wanna be with only you. Lucky for me I found someone who felt that way about me. Merlins speed to the rest of you guys in hopes you find it, too. |
| Badgers & Cranes on the Pitch
By Bry Casten In January Penshire and Hufflepuff took to the Quidditch Pitch for another round and anyone who was in attendance at the game cannot say that either team failed to impress. It was an outstanding effort on both sides goals were being attempted left and right, and the keepers were saving them beautifully. Beaters had a go at one another whacking Bludgers with all their might, both at the opposing team and to protect their own members. And the seekers well, Id like to say that Penshire came out on top of that one. It was nice to get another win under our belts! Sam Craft and Zo Taylor had a bit of a tiff on the field, and that certainly spiced things upnobody was critically injured in any of it. For Penshire Id just like to throw out that Brodi did a great job in his first game, and congratulate the whole team for a job well done! A big thank-you also to Hufflepuff for such a great game. Nicely played, Badgers! |
| Hufflepuff Game against the Shire
John Chang Another game played and lost. Around 7:00 last night the Golden Snitch was caught by the Crafty Cranes. This brings the Badgers match score to 1/2. The next match is on February 20th. The team is really trying to get better in the few weeks until the next match. All of us hope we can make 2/2. Thats this month's scoop on the Brawling Badgers. |
| The Polar Padfoots V. The Chaos Claws
by Ashley Perkins The day was bright and clear, and in other words, perfect Quidditch weather when the Ravenclaws Chaos Claws took on Paddingtons Polar Padfoots. On January 9, 2009, the match began with Cedric Cenn Felad, Quidditch Chairman, releasing the Quaffle. Erica of Ravenclaw was the first to catch the Quaffle. It was intercepted only one pass later by Lana of Paddington. Bludgers were hit by Ravenclaw beater, Will Potter, and Ravenclaws Luna Lovegood was able to make an interception. Ravenclaw made an attempt at a goal, but was stopped by Paddington Keeper, Joe Nworb. Paddington wasnt in possession of the Quaffle for long before Luna of Ravenclaw once again intercepted it. It was passed between the three lovely Ravenclaw chasers for four passes before Luna attempted another goal. This time Joe was unable to save it, giving Ravenclaw the first points of the game. Ravenclaw was once again in possession, and thanks to a smart Bludger from Will, Paddington was held up in an interception, but not foiled. It wasnt long until Lana intercepted, making Paddington in possession of the Quaffle once more. With much cheering from the Ravenclaw stands, Arya, Ravenclaw chaser and Quidditch captain managed another interception. Luna attempted another goal for the Ravens as the race for the snitch began between seekers Emily Bond of Ravenclaw and Tyler Keegan of Paddington. Beater Arissa Potter of Paddington hit a Bludger towards Luna, but it was knocked away by Ashley Perkins of Ravenclaw, making Luna free to catch the Quaffle once her fellow chasers intercepted it. Joe Nworb let in another shot making the score Ravenclaw 20 to Paddington 0. Going straight to the Ravenclaws, the Quaffle was passed around, and sneaking around Joe, the girls threw it in without his notice. The Quaffle then went from Ravenclaw to Paddington, back to Ravenclaw, back to Paddington, and finally back to Ravenclaw who attempted yet another goal. This one also went in, raising the Ravenclaw score even higher. |
| Ravenclaw once again with possession, passed the Quaffle around, and with the protection of Ashley and Will they managed another goal attempt. Joe, however, stopped this one. The Quaffle took a back and forth trip between the two teams for a while when suddenly Paddington made a roster change. Players switched position in midair and the game continued with Ravenclaw in possession. Paddington keeper, Yaxley, luckily saved a goal attempt by the Chaos Claws. The Quaffle was once again passed around between the two teams with Bludgers flying in all directions. The Claws made yet another goal attempt as the audience held their breath. It was stopped by Yaxley before going in the hoop, and the game continued. |
| Ravenclaw cheerleader, Summer, kept everyones spirits high with her happy cheering as she waved her pom-poms in the air. The beaters, Ashley, Will, Summer, and Joe were becoming very busy with almost constant action attacking the other teams chasers and defending their own. The Quaffle was passed from team to team as neither was gaining advantage over the other. Suddenly, both seekers took off in the race for the snitch! Meanwhile, Ravenclaw managed to score another goal, bringing their total up to 50. Soon after, Ravenclaw also made a roster change, switching Ashley Perkins to chaser and bringing in Cooper Jackson as a beater. Ravenclaw was in possession. Arya made yet another goal attempt that Yaxley missed, bringing the Ravens score up by ten more points. Ravenclaw was once again in possession, making another quick pass around between the chasers, Arya scored again. Just as quickly as it had started, the race for the snitch was over. Emily Bond soared over the crowd holding a Ravenclaw victory securely in her hand. The final score was 220-0 in favor of Ravenclaw. Well played everyone! |
