You know you spend too much time at PAD's when....
Contributions by the amazing Slytherins.

-You make it a priority to send in your monthly challenges and write articles even though you've got that big calculus exam the next day.
-You remember acronyms that no one else does.
-you start confusing the Slytherin Family Tree with your real family tree.
-you tried a scone for the first time solely because of the Hugs vs. Scones war.
-you want to warn people about the dangers of something, so you write an article for the OG or the DP.
-when you spend more time on your Potions lessons then on your biology lessons.
-when you worry about your housemates as much as you worry about you own family.
-when you look more forward to a PAD's dance then you do one at your Muggle school.
Spellcraft for Valentine's
U. B. Happy (S)
Here are a couple 'love' spells you can cast to attract the one you want.
Crumble dried laurel leaves and scatter them over the burning charcoal in your thurible, smell the smoke and repeat: 'Laurel loves, burn in fire, bring to me my heart's desire.'
If that does not work, try this one, especially those with a green thrumb. Pant a flowering bulb, such as tulip, daffodil, or narcissus, in a new clay pot. As you cover it with earth, repeat the name of the one you love. Then each morning and evening, say over it: 'As this root now deeply grows and its blossom gently blows, thus my true love's heart shall be gently turned unto me.'
If either of these does not work, there is also your wand.

Dear Rosalie
by, Rosalie Hale of Slytherin

Dear Rosalie, You're so beautiful. What's your secret?
My secret? Honey I was born this way. But I could do your hair for you...I am rather good. *fluffs hair*

Dear Rosalie, I want to be just as pretty and popular as you are, but I don't know where to start! Can you help?
Well first you have to be as beautiful as I am and that's not an easy thing to do.....ok ok I'll be serious. Just be yourself. I know everyone says that but honestly? If you are being true to yourself and someone doesn't like you then they aren't the kind of person you want in your life.

Dear Rosalie, I really like this guy but I dont think he knows Im alive. How do I get his attention?
Throw skittles at him? *giggles*

Surnames: Surprises used every day
By Chris Candor
Have you ever wondered what your Last or Surname means? Alternatively, why your family lived where they did, what they did for a living, or how they looked. Your last name might be a clue about the ancestors that carried the name you now sport around. Therefore, here are some interesting information behind the origin of Surnames and then some examples of surnames and their meanings behind them.

Fact: The Chinese were among the very first cultures to adopt the use of Hereditary (something passed down from one generation to the next) surnames around 5000 years ago. Before these names were not passed down, instead each person had their own surname, which often told another person about the place where the first person lives, what they did for a living or Career or how they tended to look or act.
In Europe, surnames were not used until the 10th or 11th centuries AD in Venice. However gradually through out Europe, the nobility and gentry adopted surnames until eventually all Europeans of every single class were using surnames.

Back then, there were four ways to derive a surname.
1. Patronymic. These names were usually the first name of the father. Example: Peters (son of Peter) or OReilly (the grandson of Reilly)
2. Lives near locality or Place. Example: Kirkpatrick (near the Church [Kirk] of St. Patrick) or Ashley (a field surrounded by ash trees).
3. Occupation or social Status. Example: Cooper (a Barrel maker) or Wagner (a Wagon Maker).
Finally 4. Nicknames describing the person or personality. Examples. Armstrong (Strong Arms) or Reid (red, ruddy complexion or red hair)
