| Slytherin Newbies!
Blair VanDurten We have two main Newbies that have made an awesome addition to our cozy house! I would like to welcome the lovely, Blair VanDurten and the irrisitable, Samual _Sim! Blair and Sam are great additions to the Slytherin CR, both have made over 50 posts in their short time with us and have both created two clubs! Blair is an accomplished banner maker and she has her work set as the Official Banners of the Slytherin Spirit Club. Blair is not your average Slytherin as she only is seen with her Sock Monkey and a bag of candy corn. And if you are lucky, you can actually talk with her and discover that she speaks only in 3rd person. Blair�s post total to date equals 150! Sam has his own flair for Slytherin Spirit and all other things Slytherin. He shows his support by being a new member on the Silver Serpents, the Slytherin Quidditch team! Sam is also the creator of a new Slytherin only club that has its own web site! Sam�s active Post count to date is: 73 |

Beonca Aims Newbie alert! We had a few newbies enter the common room, there was Blaine Bennett, Jezzabel Darkhold, both of which haven�t bee seem much. There then was Blair VanDurten and Samual Sims, both of which made them selves right at home! We also saw a couple returns, Amberly Austin and Ginny Gerald. In other news, Hallian Potter had a name change; she is now Janie-Leah Snape. We liked the change, not sure if it has to do with the new last name or not, but we are Slytherins. We have plans for this month, December, so we hope the house will be rocking! Our clubs are going stronger then ever! All of them! |
| Slytherin of the Month
Beonca Aims Even though this student hasn�t been here too long, he certainly has proven him self to be a great Slytherin! I�m talking about Samual Sim! You know him, you�ve seen him about. Samual wasn�t here two weeks when he started a new club, The Full Potter Secret Society, and members joined quickly. He also joined the other house clubs like the TSSS, the Slytherin Salutations Society plus the new spirit club. Samual showed in interest and Quidditch and joined the Silver Serpents, we hope he soon gets to feel the wind in his air and help us win a game. He certainly shows house pride, even writing articles already for the school paper, and works hard now for his beloved snake house. Samual is artistic, dabbling in banner making, he also wants to mentor someday; we know he�d be great at it! We would love to clone him, but we know that�s dark magic, so we will just appreciate the one we got! Sam, you are a treasure and we are glad you were sorted to Slytherin! We see great things for you! |
| First Annual Slytherin Scavenger Hunt
by Eltanin Wemyss During the month of October, Slytherin hosted the first annual house scavenger hunt. Everyone was allowed to participate and were asked to hunt for ten things: 1) A 12 oz. bag of candy corn. 2) A portrait of Professor Lockhart. 3) Aragog's web. 4) The lyrics to "Old Witch, Old Witch". 5) Four purple wall sconces. 6) A black cat with orange eyes. 7) A baby dressed as a lobster. 8) A Harry Potter-themed jack-o'-lantern. 9) A skull. 10) A calendar with Halloween circled. The candy corn, the lyrics, the cat, the baby, the jack-o'-lantern, and the calendar were all located around the Internet, but the remaining four items were found around PAD's Hogwarts. Six students participated in the hunt. First Place went to Timothy Landry, who returned first with the tenth item in hand; he was awarded a box of Halloween-themed cupcakes. Second Place, and a carved jack-o'-lantern, went to Kayla West, who found the first nine items. Third place, and a giant bat-shaped sugar cookie, was awarded to Jess Dark Wing, who returned with four items twelve minutes before Riley Jake, Honorable Mention and winner of a flashlight topped with a plastic jack-o'-lantern, brought in her four items. First Runner Up was Oriana Bloom, with three items, and Second Runner Up was Beonca Aims, who joined the hunt late and only had time to find the first item before the hunt ended. A hearty congratulations to all six! |

| He�s Mad!
Beonca Aims I was heading towards the Great Hall for lunch yesterday when I heard some muttering coming for the broom closet. �Most unusual�� I thought, though there had been instances where some 1st years would accidently lock themselves in there, but it was well into the term and I thought that this wasn�t the reason for the noise. Getting closer I could make out words now, things like �bold I tell ya!�, �BOLD�, and �How hard is that?�. I had no idea what the words meant and who was saying them as they were not using their �inside� voice, but shouting. Slowly I opened the door a crack and was surprised by what I saw; it was Cedric, the Quidditch Chairman! His hair was a mess, his eyes were bugged out, and he had a maniacal look on his face, it was frightening. No one was in the closet with him; he just shook all over and kept repeating the word �bold�. I open the door more and he looked at me without really looking at me, you know, like how mad people look at someone but like they see through them. �Cedric�, I gently and quietly asked hoping he would do something lunatic, like jump at me. �Bold!� was all he said, I continued, �do you want to come out?� He nodded, which surprised me, it also told me he may be saved. I held out my hand for him to take, which he did, and I guided him out of the dark closet. �Do you want to go with me to hospital?� I was hoping he�d agree as he seemed in a right mad state, he nodded once again. Relieved, I started up the stairs to take him to see the nurse, as we made it to the first floor landing; he turned and said, �Everyone wants to play everyone! DOUBLE GAMES, double games.� I just nodded as I didn�t want to set him off, well, any more then he already was off. He continued, �RULES! We have rules you know, always changing the RULES!� Again I just nodded. �SEEKER PMS, seeker pms�� he trailed off. I felt so bad for him, it was a tough schedule to follow and it is like he has to be two places at once. Not only that, but with new rules, new teams, new players�I was sure it was a lot to handle for just one student. As we made it to the hospital wing, I opened the doors and we entered, the nurse came right over. She could easily see the state he was in, she would be gentle. I smiled at Cedric and said, �it�ll be alright now, go with the nice lady.� He nodded and said, �Bold� once more and I left. |

| Christmas Birthday
Professor Ripley Seems I know a couple people who have birthdays around Christmas, one being my sister, the Headmistress. Whoa to anyone who would give her a birthday present wrapped in Christmas themed paper, this is your warning folks! LOL And another one from my own house staff, Amanda Dasaro. Here is an interview I did with Amanda regarding having her birthday around Christmas: ~ How did your family deal with your mom being in the hospital on Christmas giving birth to you? Honestly, at the time, they didn't mind it very much. They were just happy that a baby was being born. ~ Was it hard, when you were younger, to get that there was a difference between Christmas presents and birthday presents? I always knew there was a difference between the days, but still to this day it poses a challenge. ~ What is the worst thing about having your birthday on Christmas? I don't get any birthday presents, only Christmas presents under the tree. Also, everyone I know forgets that it's my birthday and focuses on Christmas. It's actually kinda sad. ~ What is the best thing about having your birthday on Christmas? I don't think there really is a best thing. ~ What piece of advise would you give to others, younger then you, about having a birthday on Christmas? Change your birthday! Well, since that's not possible...try to make the best of it. |
