| Penshire Prattle
Amanda It's been a little dead in the Penshire Common Room lately. Professor Ripley has been trying her best to get her students motivated. They have been bogged down recently from Muggle life. Yet, her motivation seems to be working. We have seen more posts in the common room. There have been many more submissions recently to the Owl Gazette and the Wizard's Digest. We are even participating in a book review week at the library. All in all, Penshire is sure to start back up in the coming months, and become a force to be reckoned with! |
| Nov. Shire Birthdays
Billy Raven Just like October with Adrianna Reyes, Rose Granger, and Deirdre's birthdays, we see another three in November! Starting off with Sapphire Lyze, one of our Prefects! Sapphire is one of the top posters in the locker threads always leaving little gifts. She recently left me a pine-scented blue flipflop air freshener! Now some would think she was trying to tell me something, but I like to think she was just wanted the place to be pine fresh! Sapphire spent a large part of her summer vacation at the beach walking up and down the shore looking for the right rock or shell for almost every single Shireling! That's our Sapphire! Next up is Keato Abbot! Another great Prefect and my best buddy here, Keato is forever taking us on some strange places in the RPGs. Currently we are on the castle roof, yes I said roof! And his family must be very busy finding and shipping him grapes in season! He is forever munching on the fruity treats! But beware, Keato takes his Quidditch games seriously and is a great Chaser! And finally Voldemort-bily-bob-jo-banna-peel, yes that is her log-in name, but we call her Voldie! She has the strangest sense of humor and you can never tell when she is going to pop in the games, discussion, or personal threads! Voldie is are long standing Shireling and we hope she continues! So, some great birthdays in that month, hope they all had the bestest of day! |
| Two Birthday's, Two Prefects, Four Days... and a Year
By A Random Shireling Who Is Wearing Red Today! Did you notice this odd coincidence? That two of Penshire's prefects have their birthday's four days apart? It is true on November 4th it is the birthday of Sapphire Lyze, then four days later on November 8th it is Keato Abbot's birthday! Did you notice tha tall of those are odd numbers? Well i have something to break that pattern; Sapphire is 369 days older then Keato!!!!!!!! Even though their birthdays are separated by only for days their dates of birth are separated by 369 days. |
| Penshire�s Book Review Week Contest
Professor Ripley With the new library opening, we Shirelings thought to do something interesting and generate interest, so we cam up with the first ever�Penshire Book Review Contest! This lasted a week; everyone signed up, listed the books they were to review, read and review them � by placing a �review� in the library � and earn points. Many students had trouble participating, due to Muggle schooling, but everyone was cheering on others. Not only was points earned for the house, but the Head of House added a bit to the pot, can�t say what it was as I would have to kill you, but lets say we had our 1st and 2nd place winners doing well for them selves and house! Professor Lunar had a burst of energy and time and easily won, and Faith Puppy came in second. We had no third place, but there were many names that could have been placed there. I was proud of the group and I really hope we do this again, though I told everyone they can continue to read and review books, need not be during a contest only! LOL because�20 points each folks! |
| Climbing the Roof
B.R. Crane The Penshire common room's RPG section has a new tale about a small group of students adventuring not out on the grounds, but up on the castle. When I say 'up' I don't mean up the stairs somewhere, I'm talking about up on the castle roof! First a tree had to be mastered, through the fog, no less, then the climb onto the roof. Keato, the RPG King, started this one, like many of his others, always a fresh idea and loads of fun. Emmaline followed him first, the me, Billy. Course I always check into one of Keato's RPs, not only are they fun, but he either has muffins, grapes, or other snacks to entrance you to join. Currently we have gotten past the tree portion of the climb and are now on the roof!! The fog has lifted and well, with Keato at the lead, who knows what is going to happen next! |
| No Boring Games!
Billy R. Penshire has a history of creating and finding games that have made the player think a little instead of just posting a number, smilie, or a letter. Anyone can do those games and boost their post number, but is it really that creative? We would rather have games that make you think and your posts are thoughts, grammar skills, or share some wisdom. For an example, one game called "Make the Phrase" has you coming up with phrase that match the three letters the previous poster posted, like someone places a 'MFO', so the next person writes 'Mammoths falls over', then post three new letters. The game has a lot of funny phrases and that's part of the fun. So, bore to boring games, yah for creative thinking! |

| Hufflepuff's Hello's
By DJ Diggory This month Hufflepuff has had new students enter its walls. As a house we feel its best to give them a warm cup of coco and a warm hello and what a better place to say these hello's than the Owl Gazette? First to enter the Hilariously Humble Happening House of Hufflepuff was Riley Jake. A girl which likes to go by a lot of names, for example are Rye/RyeRye/Ri/RiRi/Ru/Rizey/Rely-Ru, only to name a few. She recently transferred from Slytherin but seen the potential of a more happening time in Hufflepuff! Welcome to your new home Riley. Next to open the doors was Darrow Samis. What a year for returns, as Darrow rejoins us after his departure 2 years ago. Darrow however could never resist the pull of Hufflepuff and decided to rejoin his Hufflepuff Family. Welcome Back Lord Darrow. Another new student we had this month was Emmett Cullen. Swamped by the girls of Hufflepuff when he arrived, Emmett may ask for help but I have a feeling he will get plenty of it before his mouth even opens. Welcome to Hufflepuff Emmett. Each month we will be welcoming our new students as they flood into the house, after the Humble Happenings of a House on the Hills of a Hilariously Hope called Hufflepuff. |
| Hufflepuff Book Club
John Chang We have a book club in Huffie and it has been full of activity. A new vice president was elected and....I lost again. I would like to congratulate Taylor Sparks on winning. Now back in the book club topic Twilight trivia was posted and Taylor also got that right. Twilight has been in full flow and I learned quite a bit. Members are slowly coming in. Also we are moving it into the library but please remember now, JOIN THE BOOK CLUB |

By Katie Sawyer For the month of December in the land of the polar bears we're celebrating two birthdays! The first is Ina Delarosa's whose birthday is on December 2nd. The second is our very own HOH, Prof. Tommy, who's birthday is on December 31st. Happy Birthday to both of you! May all your birthday dreams come true!! Other top news stories from the arctic abyss are: - Brady Lennox has returned! Brady was one of our founding members who had some computer trouble a few months back causing her to vanish from our midst. We're happy to have you back, Brady! - Paddington would like to welcome its newest members Rebecca, Rose, Katherine, & Jacob! It's great to have you among us, guys! - Prof. Rachel Morgan has been assigned to our house as our new AHOH & we're all really excited about her arrival! Welcome to your new home, Prof. Rachel! - The Polar Padfoots played in their first ever Quidditch match against Hufflepuff & did a fantabulous job!! They played hard & learned a lot in the process. The Polar Padfoots will definitely be a force to be reckoned with!! - Paddington's very own Tyler Keegan & Arissa Potter started dating at the Halloween Dance! | Student of the Month
Professor Tom Riddle The Paddington HOH team recognizes Damien Spikes as our student of the month for November! Damien has definitely shown a lot of Paddington Pride! He's co-captain of the Quidditch Team (The Polar Padfoots), he takes time to welcome all the newbies to the house, & lately he's been posting a lot more in the CR. He really played his heart out in Paddington's first ever Quidditch match as Seeker & showed real house spirit despite the loss! Look for more about Damien in the next issue of 'The Alohomora!' coming out soon! Congratulations Damien! We're proud of you! |
| But...Where's Jenii?
By Tyler Keegan In the early days of Paddington's creation, prefect Brady Lennox went MIA from the Paddington common room. There was talk that she was lost in some space time continuum deal from using a misguided portkey & she couldn't find her way back, but we all suspected her disappearance probably had something to do with Jenii Chang & Yaxley Chambers, the other house prefects. From day one, the trio doled out threats back & forth about how they would rule the common room & remove the others from power. It's no surprise Brady was the first to go, being the nicest of the three she was the easiest target. Soon to follow was Yaxley who would flit in & out of the common room once or twice a month, but never stay long enough for anyone to really get a good look at him. The latest missing person in the trio of trouble was Jenii who hasn't been seen for a good two months or more now. Oddly enough, though, Brady has just returned after being away for almost the entire duration of the house's existence! Yax, on the other hand, returned a few weeks back, just in time to play in our first Quidditch game against Hufflepuff. But...where's Jenii? It's rumored that Jenii was the ultimate mastermind behind Brady's & Yax's disappearances in the first place. Could it be that somehow the duo figured out how to take Jenii out of the picture permanently, giving them free passage back into the Paddington common room? It's hard to speculate at this point, but one thing for certain...Jenii has yet to return to her home away from home. Jenii, if you're out there somewhere, we'd really like you to come home now. You don't have to be afraid of Yax & Brady anymore! We got your back. |
