Paddingtons 2nd Polar Posting Plunge
By Lana Laramie

Paddington had its second post-a-thon in mid October and here are the results:
On the Blue team there was Yaxley Chambers, Tyler Scott Keegan and Envy_Midlight, the Green teams members were Katlin Sawyer, Lana Laramie and Ina Delarosa and finally the Red team held Jenii Chang, Dawlish Ledgerhood and Toby Dermont. After posting wars between fellow team members, disappearances of students and many random comments it was the Green team won the post-a-thon with 249 posts, followed by the Red team with 57 posts and lastly the Blue team with 28 posts. In all Paddington gained a extra 334 posts. Congrats to the Green team and all the members who participated and watch for the results of the Polar Point Plunge going on right now coming out soon!
Obsess Much?
By Tyler Keegan
Not long ago a new student joined Paddington by the name of Ina Delarosa. She seemed nice enough at first, but that was before any of us really got to know her or what she was capable of. Initially her only visible flaw was her obsession with the HP character Draco Malfoy, something she proudly boasted upon arriving in our humble abode. As it turns out, Draco's not the only person she's obsessed with. Ina has taken the role of house stalker, something she seems extremely proud of. She brags time & time again in the games threads about how she stalks most of us in the house & even tries to recruit others to join her in her stalking craze. Suspicious of whether or not this was an interest she recently took up or a long-lived hobby, I did a little background search on Ina & discovered something startling. That obsession with Draco Malfoy she boasts about isn't as innocent as she'd like to make us think! It turns out Ina was actually arrested in London for stalking the actor who plays Draco (Tom Felton) prior to arriving at Hogwarts. She served 90 days in prison & was slapped with a hefty fine. If that wasn't bad enough, there's also been a restraining order placed on her by Tom Felton himself. She changed her name before arriving here, my guess is that it was in hopes we wouldn't find out about her little brush with the law or her stalking tendencies. Students of Hogwarts beware! There is a professional stalker on the loose here at Hogwarts & you may very well be her next victim!
Copy Cat
By Tyler Keegan
It all started on October 1st in the Paddington common room. I was playing the game "Right Now I'm..." & noted that I was listening to "Stupify" by the band Disturbed. Seemingly out of nowhere comes Mort Johnson charging in claiming to also be listening to Disturbed approximately 4 minutes after me. Normally I wouldn't have thought much of it because he generally seems to have decent taste in music, but in this case ironically he had never mentioned even hearing of the band Disturbed before let alone ever laying claim to listening to any of their songs when playing this game or "Song of the Moment" previously (believe me, I checked!). Since then he's mentioned listening to them at least 6 more times. Is this a glimpse at a Copy Cat in the making? How many other people in the cr has Mort been copying from? Has anyone ever stopped to wonder why, depending on who he's posting around with at the time, he answers the questions in the "Right Now I'm..." game a certain way? He even brags about being a fellow stalker when Ina's around, although when she's not I see no evidence of him stalking anyone. He's dating Lana Laramie, the house shape-shifter. Could it be possible he's taken a few lessons from her about reinventing yourself, but rather than apply them to his appearance he's applied them to his personality? Regardless of his motives, one things for certain - for all of us out there with any original thoughts we need to be wary of sharing them around Mort or the next thing we know he'll be taking the credit for them. I wouldn't be surprised if next month we see an article similar to this one by Mort himself fingering me or another housemate as a Copy Cat. Remember folks, no matter what Mort says you heard it here first.
Student of the Month
Professor Tom Riddle
The Paddington HOH team recognizes Joe Nworb as our student of the month for October!  Joe has definitely shown a lot of Paddington Pride in the CR!  He's a page editor & writer for the house magazine "The Alohomora" & he's the captain of our Quidditch Team "The Polar Padfoots".  He became famous for singled-handedly pioneering the use of the "Paddington" smiley in the CR & has become the target of innocent jokes surrounding it, but he takes them all in stride.  That doesn't stop him from fulfilling any of his duties!  Look for more about Joe in the next issue of 'The Alohomora!' coming out soon!  Congratulations Joe!  We're proud of you!
Slytherin House Happenings
By Jessness
With the month of October being ceremonious with all things scary, it's only natural that this is the most exciting time of year, especially for those in the House of Slytherin.

If you happen to walk by and see a bunch of Slytherins scouring the castle don't worry, they haven't lost something potentially hazardous to your health. This month the house of Slytherin is running their first ever Annual Full House Halloween Scavenger Hunt which will be running until Friday, October 24, with the slight chance of it being extended to Friday, October 31.

But that's not all there has been much discussion going on between Slytherins most wondrous Head of House, Professor Snape and the Slytherin House Staff and while it's all still quite hush-hush what I can tell you is that Slytherins aren't associated with this time of year for nothing. Also on an interesting note, Slytherin's resident house ghost The Bloody Baron made his return earlier this month, though from where or what is still a mystery. Slytherins stay tuned for further updates! All contestants and standings for the Scavenger Hunt will be brought to press in next months edition of the Owl Gazette.
Snakes' Birthdays
by: Riley Jake
There are three birthdays being celebrated this month - on the fourth of the month, Halliana Potter becomes fourteen. Also, on the sixteenth beloved Senior Prefect Jess Dark Wing turns seventeen. That very same week, on the twenty-first, we have Ginny Gerald, who turns twelve this year. Happy Birthday to all of you!
Slytherin of the Month!

This month it was a easy pick! Eltanin gets the vote hands down and he didnt even know he was running. Let me tell you a few things about this great snake, first, without reviewing the post numbers, this guy is tops! There isnt a day that goes by that you come in the common room and all two pages of games were last played by Tani. And we are talking those silly smilie crap games. No, Tani would not stand for that kind of dribble, he is one great wordsmith-grammar-guru-intellectual-literary-genius who loves the thinking-mans games, and he plays them all! And not just posts to be posting, his are ever interesting and thought provoking, you can tell he puts effort into every post he makes! Not only that, but he is also spearheading many of the house activities and is one really great Quidditch supporter and player. Tani is like the silent captain of the team, though he shares his thoughts and ideas, he just doesnt have the title, and hes fine with thatthat is the kind of guy he is! He consistently shows respect and shares his opinion and support no matter what topic or board. He loves musicals, show tunes, and reading loads of books that are beyond my comprehension. On a personal note, I have always admired him and hope to be half as smart as he is when I go to college. The house would certainly be missing A LOT if Tani wasnt in it and I know every Slytherin appreciates his words, guidance, and company. Eltanin.YOURE THE BEST!
Close Encounters of the CURDLED Kind...
by Kayla West
The Slytherin CR was up in arms last Tuesday evening when Gred Weasley had a very close encounter with a block of Stilton cheese!
The accident occurred when Kayla West, Slytherin's very own turophile (that's a cheese-head, people...word of the day!) remarked that it was the only cheese she wasn't particular to. Gred agreed, admitting that it is, in fact 'all mouldy and gross!' To demonstrate, he threw the cheese at the wall, only for it to bounce back and hit him in the eye!
After a lot of wand-waving, the Serpents managed to settle the little fellow down and reduce the swelling, although Gred now has a rather greenish mark on his upper cheek, but has he learned anything from this experience? Not according to Prefect Riley Jake, who overheard him bragging to a group of admirers, 'I meant to do it...just for kicks, ya know...'. Yes, we know, Gred!
The Witch is Back
by A Snake
The Serpents welcomed back an old face to it's CR early this week...our very own Kayla West! Kayla had been MIA for quite some time so we gave her a quick interview on her first night back...

How does it feel to be back, Kayla?
Oh, Lordy-Doo...feels like I never left, really. I've been up to ninety all day purchasing my supplies for the year...I'd like to keep my rep as a points machine

Where exactly have you been all this time?
Well, I'd heard that the moon was made of cheese...so...

You decided to pay a visit?
*looks sheepish* Yes.

And?
It wasn't.

Are you upset because of this?
Well wouldn't you be?

Not exactly...
Flings her arms upwards. I mean for Merlin's sake! I'd done my homework, researched everything, didn't eat for a week...and then the sodding thing is rocks and aliens. And that Man-in-the-Moon...don't get me started...

What was wrong with him?
He wasn't a bit hospitable! I expected some level of service from the rude waste-of-skin but noooooooooooo...he was too busy cleaning out craters to offer me any kind of food or shelter. I lived on moon-rock cakes for months! I'll be writing to the Board of Moonagement about his behavior! Kayla storms off.
Nice to see that some things don't change! Welcome back KayKay!
Ravenclaw Rap
By Ravenclaw
This month we welcome four new members to the
house of Ravenclaw. First came Triolee Leeds. Then
Connor Penshire came and joined us. Meg Mirtov came
shortly after and soon to come is Alex Russo. Welcome to those four! And guess what! Our very own Ariene Callahan has returned to us after three months of computer troubles! Welcome back, Ari!

I congratulate Erica Lovegood, second year and PA in the house, for winning our Point Tournament and earning the title "Queen of Points." Only by a few points she won, however. Aidan Smith was just behind her in point earnings and the two went against each other in the final of three rounds.

In other news, Ravenclaw had the most points in the hourglass the other day for the first time all term. Yippy! Over and out.
The Poster's Marathon
By Hilary Stevens
There have been quite a few shake ups in the top ten posters list in the GCR. The first and possibly biggest news is that long-standing leader Leah Black has been knocked off the top spot by our own Spam queen, Hermy Wibberly! Leah's now sitting at number two, while Ariana Martin is up at third. Fourth is Gawyn Crossguard, followed by HoH Professor Opal. Roxanne Whitez follows her, tailed by Megan Miller. Our eighth place goes to Kalie Black, and Lynn Jennings has stormed the charts, making number nine. Number ten is none other than Future-World-Dominator, Audrea Martin. And as an interesting fact, all of our staff except Professor O'Connell and my self are in the top ten. Maybe it'll change by the next report, but we shall see! Keep your eyes open, folks!
Penshire Prattle
Billy Raven
Though some lament the quite common room, I like to think it a lull in the action. The Shire has many RPGs going and if those who made the commitment stick to it, they will continue. We have seen one new student come in so far in October, Aran Guinnes. He seemed a great fit and joined in some activities right off.  We had a whole-house ghost hunt and also some common room activities, one being making a wanted poster of a certain troublesome ghost. We are missing some members, but it is due to either computer problems or Muggle School and like mom likes to say, Muggle School is important, so we await their return with papers or exams over with and their time freed up.
Spooktacular Visit
Billy Raven
We werent sure when exactly he came in, but hes here! Yes, the famous Peeves had made an appearance in the Crane house and causing havoc. As you know, hes not the friendliest of ghost with his tongue sticking out and his taunting not haunting. Many Shirelings ran for cover as the plump troublemaker pelted water balloons around until Professor Ripley put a stop to that little horse play. He would appear here and there popping up in the games such as confessions and spam. Word has it he will be sent packing and not too soon for some of the cranes.
October Shire Birthdays
Billy Raven
We saw three birthdays for the month of October, Adrianna Reyes, Rose Granger, and Deirdre. Adrianna has been missing some from the common room but that didnt stop the cranes from wishing her well. She was, and we hope when she returns, a top poster keeping the games a live and spam/chats were always interesting. Rose, too, is a major poster, but in a more shy way which only endears her to the Shire. Always one to post in the I Meant to Tell You thread with kind words for all, Rose is one of the hearts of the common room. And finally we have Deirdre who comes and goes, but is always a joy to have when she is around. Muggle life keeps her away more then we all like, but she stills comes in on occasion and gives her squishy-rex- a squeeze.
Sadly we recieved no articles about the house from Hufflepuff.
Back in Business
By Hilary Stevens
So, since the Gryffindor Gossip section of this publication has been sadly lacking, some of you may think that Gryffindor either has nothing to report, or is just too lazy to do it. You would be wrong, of course. So what has been going on, you ask? Well, after extended absences, the Lions have welcomed back several old faces like Ambra Lovato and Skyee Chris. Although our 'newbie' count is low, it hasn't stopped a few new faces showing up. Welcome to all of you! In other news, Gryffindor has been getting prepared for the famous Halloween dance - which takes places a matter of days after the writing of this. Most of us are all ready for the grand event - you guys had better watch out, because we'll be there! The Quidditch team has also been in full swing, discussing strategy for the most recent game - and first of the season - against the Penshires. The Lions have their eyes on the prize this year, and with the addition of a new team and a mix up of the rules, this is bound to be a good season. Just watch out for those scarlet players as they fly by! Needless to say there's been much more going on in the house, but you really don't need to know the inner-workings now, do you?
