| Penshire's August Summer Challenege
Samuel Craft On August 11th, Professor Ripley, Penshire's head of House, posted a brand new challenge for each of the Penshire's students to try their best at. Since Penshire challenges are nothing new to the house of Pandora Penshire, several of the Penshire students were ready to go to start earning points for their own house. Currently, Adrianna Lunar is the only crane to have completed each of the five different challenges set by our Head of House. However, Bryony Casten, Samuel Craft, Sapphire Lyze, Evan Murdoch and Billy Raven are all determined to completely the challenge, even if the first place prize has already been claimed by Adrianna. Hopefully all of the Penshire students that signed up will have the chance to finish all five challenges before the due date on August 24th. |
| Where'd Everyone Go?
A Crane Ah summer is almost over and the cranes certainly had their vacations, some more then others...*coughSamcough*. Early on, Lynexe traveled from our nothern boarder country to parts of the Big O (Ohio), and in an student exchange program, our Senior Prefect, Samuel, when up to Montreal! Roger spent much of the summer in Europe traveling and sent us word from the Greek Islands. Keato, how not only went to visit grandparents in Colorado, but also to a family vaction home and after returning for a while, left us again! Bry and Sapphire braved the backyard overnight in a tent! We worried about the grasshoppers and singing crickets, but they managed with just a minor scare. Sapphire seemed a popular partner for the beach as not only did she go with Adrianna R., but later with Bry! Both Adrainna and Sapphire brought back loads of interesting shells which Adrianna said they spent hours and hours walking the beach to find just the prefect ones for each Shireling. Samuel took off again for the beach, I think it was the most popular site this summer, though with my white legs, I wouldn't be caught dead there! I did canoe down the Clairon River, it's a safe bet I wore jeans and my trusty straw hat! Others went off to various camps, and weekend trips, so you see, this summer the cranes were well traveled! |

| Student of the Month
The Paddington HOH team recognizes Lana Laramie as our student of the month for August! Lana has definitely shown a lot of Paddington Pride in the CR! She's a writer for the house mag "The Alohomora", she has signed up to participate in our first ever Polar Posting Plunge scheduled for this month, she's the president of The Lunar Lights, & a reserve member of the Quidditch Team. She's always one of the first people to welcome newbies in the CR, is involved in lots of RPGs, & is very supportive of her housemates when anyone has an idea or made a significant accomplishment. She likes to play the CR games, too, & has been quick in making lots of friends. Look for more about Lana in 'The Alohomora!' coming out in September! Congratulations Lana! We're proud of you! Professor Tom Riddle Head of Paddington Teacher of Flying Lessons & Paranormal Phenomenon |
| First Official Polar Posting Plunge
By Lana Laramie This month Paddington had its very first post a thon! There were three teams: Orange, which consisted of Toby McDermont, Jenii Chang, and Joe Nworb, Red, whose members were Katlin Sawyer, Lana Laramie, & Summer Whites and Yellow, who was made up of Tyler Scott Keegan, Yaxley Chambers, Soma Cruz, and a late addition, Envy_midlight. After fierce posting from all the teams from the 13th to the 20th the winner was the Red team who collected a total of 1,238, who were followed by the Orange team with a total of 1,037 and in third was the Yellow team, who posted 407 posts. After generously posting the stats of each team plus the grand total throughout the Plunge Joe announced the final total, which turned out to be a whopping 2,682 posts! Each team member was appointed Galleons to spend at Paddington's newest store, Music Mate Shop. Red got 25 galleons each, Orange got 20 each and Yellow, 15 each. Congratulations to the Red team and the rest of the house for making an incredible effort during the Polar Posting Plunge! |
| Technologically challenged!
By Toby Mcdermont Earlier in August. Prof. Tom made an announcement in Paddington about the technology-craze and fashion shows going on in Rpgs in the common room. Almost every rpg that was started in the rpg section, at some point, a student would say that they took their Ipods out or watched a dvd, or would described in painful detail to the reader what they were wearing. The fashion shows and techno-craze was becoming so unbearable, that many students who had joined those hard hit rpgs ended up leaving them for good. After Prof. Toms explanation of how theres no electricity in Hogwarts, that it isnt possible for someone to pull out their Ipods or watch a dvd? He further went on to say that no one really needs to know what exactly someone is wearing, instead, give a brief explanation and not write a novel since that turns many students off. Do you think kids understood that? If you thought yes, then you need to be taken out back and beat up silly until you get sense knocked into you. I really dont how hard it is to get that you cant play your Ipod and watch dvds in a non-electrical place. Obviously, you cant run electrical items with water. |
| Snakes' Birthdays
by: Riley Jake During the month of August, three Snakes celebrated their birthdays. Sky Malfoy turned fifteen on the second of the month. Gred Weasley, last month's winner of the Most Popular Slytherin and Craziest Slytherin awards turned seventeen three days later, on the fifth. Rounding out this month's birthdays was Julian Emerson, who turned nineteen on the twenty-sixth. |
| Must Be Some Kind of Record
by: Riley Jake The Slytherin common room has never had its far share of newbies, so the month of August was a tad bit of a surprise, when it saw the arrivals of Sissy Blair, Nymphadora Bells, who prefers to be called by her surname 'Bells' only, Felicia Andison and Arabella Felton. Their arrivals were rounded off by the return of Sukiro Aki, who had not been spotted in the common room since April. She recounted that she had been the headwitch at a camp with lots of little witches and wizards. Everyone in the Slytherin common room is quite glad to see some new faces around, as well as the return of a highly amusing snake. |
| When I Take Over The World
By: The Anti Ninja Students in Slytherin have all had dreams of world domination at one point or another. However, recently, two students, Riley Jake, a second year, and Viktor, a sixth year have expressed their wishes to rule the world, and make all of us read comic books! Eltanin Wemyss expressed his outrage at this, saying that when he rules the world, comic books would be banned. However, the other two Slytherins dream of getting the super powers that the heroes in the Marvel comics have. Riley even wants to build an ultra awesome villainous lair. This reporter advises everyone to hide their comic books, and guard them with every fiber of their being, because Riley Jake and Viktor will probably try to take them. |
| Multiple Orianas
by: Mildmannered Slytherin It was recently discovered that the Slytherin common room is home to more than one Oriana Bloom. This reporter searched everywhere - through couches, in the fireplace, and even in my own shadow, but I was not able to locate the rest of the Orianas. If you have any information regarding the multitude of Orianas, please say something, so that the Slytherin common room will not be haunted by them. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this investigation. |
| Olympic Fever in Slytherin!
by: Riley Jake For the month of August, Olympic Fever gripped the Slytherins, which led to discussions about which sports they were watching, as well as who was winning which events on television. There was also a long discussion about the different sorts of sports that we would attempt if we went to the Olympics, as well as a few mentions of a certain Muggle, Michael Phelps and the way that he won eight gold medals at the games. As this Olympic mania seems to die down, one can only wonder about what will happen at the 2012 games. |
| Slytherin House, Olympic Dream
Beonca Aims Besides the huge discussion of the games themselves, there was a poll about who would want to be in what venues, like gymnastics, fencing, or swimming and so on. Here are the results: Basketball got 2 votes and we know by the posting that Riley Jake was one who wouldnt mind being on the team. Beach Volleyball got 1 vote by Gred Weasley, who we know really enjoyed this aspect of the games. Gymnastics got 1 vote, though many enjoyed watching this, not many wanted to actually do it! Fencing got 1 vote and suffices to say, stay clear of Eltanin with he has a fencing saber or what ever you call those things! LOL Swimming got 2 votes with Riley being the only one who confessed to voting for it, though she didnt want to go up against Michael Phelps, she did want to do some swimming. And finally other getting one vote and from the post, it was for hoola-hooping & Jump roping! That was Nymphadora Bells, or Bells, as we call her, who would do those IF the Olympics had them! So you see, we are not just a bunch of students sitting around the common room, if given the chance, wed love to be a part of something like this and in our specialties. Would any of us win gold? Well, in our house, we feel like we have just by being a part of this great place! |
