| Snakes' Birthdays
by: Riley Jake During the month of July, quite a few of Slytherin students are celebrating birthdays. Kicking the month off, we have Gabriella Murphy, who celebrated her birthday on the fifth of July. On the eleventh, we had Piper Bailey (princesskrissi). Viktor celebrated his birthday the following day, and Evan turned a year older on the twenty first of the month. Finally, at the very end of the month, we have Allegra, who had her birthday on the thirty first. Happy birthday to all of you, and I hope that the day was a special one. |
| Rye Jake the Snake: A Red head?
by: Orly This reporter was astonished to see that Slytherin second year Riley Jake's hair has turned red. I wasn't able to speak with the distressed Prefect Assistant about the cause of her hair color changing. What I was able to gather from speaking to some of her fellow second years is that Riley isn't a metamorphagus, so the cause of her hair color changing could possibly be a bit more interesting than genetics. |
| Wandering Into The Forest
by: A Slytherin Writer This Friday, I was astonished to discover that Riley Jake, one of the second years in Slytherin house, had disappeared. I was slightly distraught by this, and took to wandering outside. I was able to spot her in the Forbidden Forest, sitting by a giant oak tree and mumbling things about a "rescue" a "unicorn" and a "horde of werewolves." After I had helped her back to the Slytherin Common Room, she told me that she had been wandering around the forest trying to find something she'd lost last term, but had been rescued from a horde of werewolves by a heroic unicorn. Or something to that affect. I didn't pay much attention. |

| Slytherin of The Month - August
By:Viktor Yes..you heard it rightthe award is back againwith a bang! Unlike the previous the monthswe have got TWO Slytherins of the Month! They are none other than our assistant Head of House, Professor Kelina Bliss and Riley Jake! Professor Kelina Bliss has become a house favorite of late mainly due to her good participation in House activities and joining in the games and also other activities in the common room. She has been nominated for this award because mainly because she cares for the house a lot within the common room walls and she readily gives advices to anyone who seeks. She also is really very funny, nice and also helpful personand moreover on an interesting noteshe owns a pet squidlook it out if you can. And you notice the tentacles are like 8 snakes attached to a single body The only other person who has tied with our loving Professor Bliss is none other than Riley Jake. What is there to say less of Rye? She is a model Slytherin studentand she is noted for her activity in house activities and has been helping us earn a lot of points. She is also a very friendly and helpful person and is ready to help new Slytherins settle down.. And this sweet and loving Slytherin has a burning desire to bring the House Cup to Slytherin to our house! Congratulations to Riley and Professor Blisswe love you guys! |
| Caution! Random Nicknaming Spree in Slytherin House
Arien Drakon Good Morning folks! Earlier last week, we here in Slytherin had a very odd occurrence. We have discovered that a couple of our own had a talent for nicknaming. While this is normally a nice thing one went over the edge and nicknamed a bunch of people at once, while another had gotten on board with more naming. As where one was the adopted brother of Junk, who was very good at this nicknaming thing also, it seems that Arien has picked up this skill as well. We also later discovered that Riley Jake was responsible for the naming of Ori Chan. As to how many others are involved or who has been named what we do not know!..... After much investigation that included a crup, a cat and also an aluminum can we finally rested our hands on a memo that included the nicknames that were assigned to the following individuals during a small piece of time. You are cautioned to read these names as it is rumored you may just catch the nicknaming bug just from reading this. Here is the list of names and nicknames: Riley Jake - Rizey Rayne Hallowell - Rain Nicolette Bleu - Nikki or Niki Niquie Malfoy - Lizzi Gred Weasley - Pinky Victor - Spike Julien Emerson - Jules Oriana Bloom - Ori Chan Eltanin Wemyss- Tanis |
| New Editor of the Witch Weekly has the Write Stuff!
By Brown Belt Because Summer Levy has to step down from her old title as the Witch Weekly editor, a new one was needed as soon as possible. However, lucky for them, the search didn't take long. Erica Lovegood, already a Prefect Assistant and an avid writer before this event, gladly took the challenge. The upcoming issue, the first one Erica has taken charge of, is going along wonderfully. Also, along with the new editor, something else about the Witch Weekly is new. The staff has decided it would be in everyone's best interest involved if they switched from Geocities to Google Pages. They are quite pleased with how it looks. However, they want you're opinion. If you feel strongly one way or another, please feel free to let someone know. There is always room for improvement, no matter in what field. |
| Interview with Beonca Aims
by: Riley Jake and Beonca Aims After spending the entire afternoon hanging out in the Art Club, I returned to my dorm room to see that Beonca was there as well, reading through entries from her previous years at Hogwarts. Beonca Aims, a fifth year Slytherin, two-time prefect, former Head Girl, and recent Prefect Assistant. While Beonca had gone full circle in terms of staff positions, I had a few questions for Slytherin's oldest student about what had happened before I had arrived at Hogwarts. RJ: How many Heads of House has Slytherin had? BA: In my life time here at PAD's Hogwarts, the noble house of Slytherin has seen 4 Heads of House changes, first being Professor Ripley, then Professor Snape, then for 3 months, Professor Rosehill, and now back to Professor Snape. Some would think it DADA class and not a Hogwart's house! RJ: Really? Professor Ripley? BA: Yeah, that was way before the whole 'call me mom' thing and 3 years before Penshire came into the picture. She was actually pretty fun. RJ: And Professor Rosehill? BA: She was a better student, enough said. RJ: What's the biggest change that you've seen in the house during your years here? BA: Hard to say, the place grows and keeps getting better. What is one of the biggest change? Um, Broomstick Racing is exciting and the way we now do Quidditch games. Before you went to the HP site and did the computer game and copy & pasted your score. The way we do it now is way too cool. Another change is the forums, I think these are the 4th type we've used, we started on Bravenet boards! RJ: Any classes you haven't taken? BA: I pretty much covered every cannon ones, I really need to work on the other ones because they are just as interesting. RJ: Anyone not here any more you miss? BA: Well yeah! I miss Orianna Flamescale, she was a Ravenclaw, and Legolas, he was just sexy. I miss Stella Diggory, a Slytherin, she was so much fun to RP with, we both were always getting into trouble. Um, I miss other Slytherins like Kayla, Clarissa, and Wednesday. Oh and the two Cho's, you had to be there. RJ: Know any good secrets? BA: Yeah (laughs), but I would have to kill you after I tell you. |
| Paddington House Replaces Spam
by: Paddington House Recently, the Paddington house staff came to the decision to replace spam, a game in which many students had started using to make pointless posts, with a game Paddy Chatter, a game where Paddys could come and talk to their housemates and get to know them. Everyone's pleased with this change and we think it will really help our house. Here's what a few Paddys had to say about the new game: I thought it was a great idea making our own spam thread!! Paddy chatter so much better then spam!!! That shows how creative we paddies are!! -Soma Cruz When I saw that Spam was in the deletion count and was like "WHAT??", then I saw Paddy Chatter. After chatting I came to see that this new game is so much better then that old game. What was it called?? -Lana Laramie I'm happy to see SPAM go because I was never a fan of SPAM threads anyway. As a staff member they're hard to moderate, & from a general perspective I've always seen alot of "cliques" form in SPAM threads that make other people feel left out if they try to join in. I'm really proud of our house not being afraid to think outside the box & come up with our own unique way to chit chat with each other rather than just falling in line with what everyone else is doing. Paddy Chatter isn't really SPAM with rules, it's specifically designed for CONVERSATIONS, not just a lot of nonsense posting. We have plenty of other games we can play for nonsense posting. I think it gives us a better chance to get to know one another than your average SPAM thread played in the other CRs. -Prof. Tommy I am very relieved to see the SPAM topic go because it seemed like all everyone was doing in the topic was posting ridiculous posts over and over again that meant absolutely nothing. I always thought that SPAM was for conversations and not just for repeated smilie posts. A couple times I remember trying to actually have a conversation in SPAM with another person, but it was hard to keep up since other people were going into the topic and posting so many ridiculous posts that I'd have to backtrack like 50 pages to see what that persons last comment to my last post was. Hopefully now that the SPAM topic is gone, students will try to have conversations with one another and get to know each other better. -Toby Mcdermont As you can see, the new game was a welcomed change, and the Paddington students are excited to be able to chat in this new game, without all the crazy spamming that took place in the spam game. |
| Spamming Penshire Style
Magnus Now I know many thing Spamming is Spamming and the topic found in the Games section if full of mindless posts, but youd be surprised that is not the case in the Shire. This topic has always been used for a place to meet and greet house mates while in the common room. So while other games are being played, RPGs are being updated, and other topics posted in, everyone checks into Spam off and on during their time in the room. Popping in to say morning or good afternoon, what ever the time of day, and then a discussion begins on such things like what they are eating, having to go to work, vacations, music, and other current things going on at the time. The Spam topic in Penshire is used like an IMing form of communication, only you post in the thread and even though some dont have msn, or aim, they can easily join in and have some fun. We found its a great way to get to know your house mates and it brings everyone closer together. Sometimes the topics go on for pages, other times; they can finish them up in four posts. Not that spamming doesnt go on, but it is usually done during posting wars and is pretty funny. Some will post their post count in a bunch of threads, or just even post the word spam, but its usually just one post in a bunch of threads. Another example, Sapphire posted a birthday wish to Bryony, in every single thread in Chit-chat and Games, it had to be a lot of work, and quite a tribute. When we get new students, we always invite them down to Spam and then the tradition lives on. |
| PCSC Awards!
Magnus The Penshire Crane Spirit Club announced their awards for various activities in the House of Crane. Keato, president and originator of the club, organized these awards. Nominations were made by members, and then voted on with the outcome seen below. This is the 1st Annual Penshire Awards, and this was months in the making, from the day Keato started PCSC back in September this event was being planned. He wanted to thank every member of PCSC, especially Amanda and Billy and the MIA vice president; Makayla Malfoy, who has since returned. So on to the awards, and I quote Keato here: The Spammer of the Year... Faith Puppy! *Faith receives a golden medal with the words Spammer of the Year on it* Penshires Favorite Avatar of the Year... Samuel Craft's! Penshires Favorite Signature of the Year... Samuel Craft's! The RPG of the Year... Train Ride Here (the start of term feast was a second part of this RPG) *the participants of this RPG are given a blue ribbon* The Game of the Year... SPAM! *everyone who ever posted in or read spam is given some delicious canned meat* Penshires Gamer of the Year... Sapphire Lyze! *Sapphire receives a golden medal with an engraving of her posting in the games* Penshires Posting War of the Year... Disney Villains vs Heroes! Penshires Contributor of the Year (for the 2007-2008 term)... Bryony Casten! *Bry receives a trophy with an engraving of the smilie on the top* But of course, we would not have a Penshire without Professor Ripley, or any of the staff members. So each staff member of the 2007-2008 term are to thank for your work to make Penshire possible! *all of heh 2007-2008 term staff members are awarded a gold medal* |
| Paddington Smiley Brings Down SPAM
by Tyler Keegan Recently the SPAM game in Paddington was removed from the house and replaced with a similarly-played game called Paddy Chatter. The difference between the two is SPAM comes with no rules while Paddy Chatter has guidelines you must follow in order to post. What is the reason behind this? Although no one is coming out directly and saying it, if you ask me it's all because of Joe Nworb. Yes, you heard me right. Joe can't seem to refrain from posting the Paddington Smiley repeatedly...repeatedly... repeatedly...repeatedly...repeatedly...repeatedly...repeatedly... repeatedly...repeatedly...repeatedly...repeatedly...repeatedly... repeatedly...repeatedly...repeatedly...repeatedly...repeatedly...repeatedly... so20much so the house has grown to despise the use of it anywhere. As a matter of fact, when SPAM was removed, Joe posted in the Rainbow SPAM game asking if he could use the smiley there, only to have 3 house members immediately tackle him screaming "NO!" in his face! Is this the end of SPAM forever in Paddington? Or just the end of SPAM until Joe leaves? We may never know, but rest assured there will no longer be any repeated...repeated...repeated... repeated...repeated...repeated...repeat..repeated...repeated... repeated...repeated...posts of the Paddington Smiley anywhere else in the house. |
| Possible Shape-Shifter Posing As Paddington Student!
by Tyler Keegan Rumor has it that there is a shape-shifter running loose in the house of Paddington by the name of Lana Laramie. This rumor has begun due to the fact that Lana's signature and avatar change almost on a daily basis. All of Paddington marvels at how frequently Lana's appearance changes. As a matter of fact, it's been known to happen in the middle of conversations you have with her! One minute she looks a certain way, then you blink and suddenly she's changed her appearance. If you didn't know better, you'd think Lana left and another person took her place. We've gotten pretty used to it by now, but for those of you not as familiar with her as we Paddingtons are, beware! If she's not a shape shifter, then she must be an animorphmagus. Whatever the case may be, there's definitely something going on with Lana! |
| Whats in a Dream?
By Bryony Casten Theres one thread in the Penshire Common Room that Im guaranteed a good post whenever I click on it, and its in the Share Your Dreams topic. A place where Penshires can post whatever dreams theyve had recently, whether they be funny or scary, involve members from PADs or Harry Potter characters, or are otherwise just plain weird. Either way, you enter that topic and you know youll find something interesting. After having an interesting discussion about lucid dreaming, eating cheese and chocolate, and dream journaling, we got into the crux of everything what do Penshires dream about? This month there were some recurring themes. Twilight, for oneboth Emmaline and myself had a dream somehow involving vampires or characters from the book. Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, and the Tudors all worked themselves into Emmalines dreams as well sometimes all at once, which leads to some funny recall! Faith, Cauly, Luna, Riley, Emmaline, Sapphire, and Professor Ripley all made appearances in dreams, and Adrianna recalled a pretty awesome lucid dream (which is a dream when you know youre dreaming). Dreams are something that are fun to share, talk about, laugh about, cry about whatever it is you want to do with them. So from this month in a nutshell: Whats in a Penshires dreams? Penshires dream about vampires, marriage, eating lunch, pushing people over, black robes and pointed hoods, trees with feathers, fancy hotels, beating hearts, and forcing people out of swimming pools. Whats in your dreams? |
