Ten Things Not To Do With Your Thanksgiving Turkey
By Ariene Callahan

1. Never place the turkey on your head! One, you will look like a dolt, and secondly, you can't see where you are going.
2. Resist the urge to dress it up in doll clothes.
3. Drop-kicking the turkey and seeing how far it flies is not a good idea.
4. Turkey does not make a very good puppet
5. The turkey is not a secret compartment in which to hide Aunt Martha's shoes.
6. Turkeys don't sing, so pretending to be on American Idol is frowned upon. Besides since when have turkeys been a contestant?
7. Baseball is played with a baseball, the turkey does not substitute a ball.
8. Hide and seek is best played with humans.
9. Turkeys don't swim, and they aren't a floating device.
10. Place Filibuster's Fireworks inside, so that when it's carved, a huge explosion occurs. It's messy and believe me, your parents will be very angry!
Fairy Festival of the Frosty Forest
By: Jennifer Kull (JUNK)

It's that time of year again! the ground becomes crisp with frost and then slowly gets colder each day before finally, snow falls! The forest fairies of Hogwarts are always prepared for the winter comings and goings. Each year they hold an annual festival and invite all other magical creatures (that will get along at least) to attend. So, witches, wizards, and professors alike! Come one, come all, and all that grand announcement stuff. Come see the Fairy Festival of the Frosty Forest of 2007!!

I went last year, and I must say that my favorite part was the Fizzing Sizzles, a fairy -produced and -acted show about a peasant fairy who goes on many adventures to end up finding a prince. Other activities, shows, attractions, etc. will most definitely be available, so do not forget to attend! Tickets are 5 Galleons each and can be bought by Floo at #3456 SeaShell Limb.
House Points: An Analysis
By a statistics analyst in Ravenclaw

Link to image: http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c347/raven_summer/graph.jpg

It is past half-way of the fall-winter term at Hogwarts, but how are the houses doing? Who has the lead so far? Who seems promising enough to catch up? Watch the exciting house points competition, illustrated in the graph. Note: point values are taken from the end of term 2006-2007 to present.

What happened between point updates 4 and 5 to cause such a high rate of increase? What was Ravenclaw doing by point update 12 that allowed them to be ahead of Slytherin for that little while? What did Penshire do recently that let them surpass Hufflepuff and catch up to Ravenclaw and Slytherin? Could Gryffindor be hiding a secret point-earning weapon that they have yet to use?

Keep your eyes wide open, and be alert. What could happen next with the points? No one knows

Gift Giving for the Administration
Beonca Aims

Looking for that prefect gift for our favorite administrator? I have some tips for you then, if youre buying for the Headmistress, M & Ms are always a great idea, she loves those, or a life-size cut-out of Elliot Sadler, her favorite NASCAR driver. A set of Harry Potter books, leather-bound, of course, would also be a nice addition to her collection.

Professor Ripley loves her tea; maybe a set of bone-China tea set with matching cozy would be ideal. How about a well made velvet, green or teal, pouch for runes would suit her, or a crystal ball cover, she has plenty of crystal balls.

Professor Snape, I would suggest a black wool winter scarf, he wears them out! Also you might consider the DVD, Nightmare before Christmas; I hear it is one of his favorites. Stuck for ideas, a beautiful set of cut-crystal decanters would look good in his office, or a set of crystal potion jars with real cork lids.

Professor Opal could hang a golden framed star chart in her office, double matted, of course. Or a matching necklace and earrings of her birthstone would be appropriate. Even better would be a globe-like orb of the constellations of the star on a teak pedestal would suit her also and look nice in her office.

Professor Lockhart would be hard to buy for, he seems to have everything, maybe a weekend pass at the local spa would do him some good, especially if it included a couple facials, with all that smiling, his face has to hurt.

Professor Fairydust, a good wing-waxing might be in order. She would also look great in a hand-made silk shawl, purple, of course. A nice alabaster raven-craved urn for floo powder would make a nice addition to her office.
How to make the Perfect Snowball
By Fiona Chauvet

Winter is almost here and with winter comes snow! More than likely there will be plenty of snowball fights on the grounds, so you need to be prepared. A flimsy and badly constructed snowball will do you no good if you're caught in the middle of a battle. You need to know how to make a good snowball that will pack a punch, and tell the other students not to mess with you!

First, it's good if the snow is wet and crunchy. Powdery snow doesn't work well in snowball fights. If it's the latter, then you can only work with what you're given. No help there. Sorry. Second, gather a handful of snow between your mittens. Mold the snow until it feels like a ball. If you can, try to smooth it out too. Once you've done this, select your target and throw! The more you do this, the easier it will become to make the snowballs and the quicker you'll be able to throw them. You'll be like a machine!

How to Wrap Your Presents Perfectly
By Fiona Chauvet

If you're like me, you have two left hands when it comes to Christmas present wrapping. Mine usually come out looking like I chewed the paper and taped it together with my toes! Not attractive at all. But I can say I recently discovered a great guide to Christmas present wrapping. It helped me and I hope it can help you too!

First find some really pretty wrapping paper. I myself prefer red paper, but whatever you choose. Next, roll out the paper on the ground and lay the gift in the center of the paper. Determine how much you'll need on each side by rolling the paper around the gift. Once you've got a good length, cut the paper. Now, tape one end on top of the package. Make it nice, tight and smooth. Then tape the other end on top of the package. Now you can start wrapping the ends by folding both corners inward. Make all your folds nice and tight. It helps to use the edge of something sharp. Your fold should look like a V. Now tape the fold up. Repeat this on the other end of the package.

Now you can add your bows and ribbon. Take your ribbon and wrap it around the package. It doesn't matter which side. You can be creative. Once you have a good length, cut it and tape it down tightly. You can add a bow on the top to finish it off. Now you have a first class gift!

How to Decorate the Perfect Christmas Tree
By Fiona Chauvet

My favorite part of Christmas is the Christmas tree. It's a great time to spend with family and friends when you decorate it, and it looks beautiful on Christmas night too. But for some people, they can't seem to create a good Christmas tree that actually looks appealing. I hope my suggestions will be able to help some people out this holiday season.

You want to start off with a bare tree. The first thing you should do is choose your lights. Some people enjoy multi-colored or plain white lights. I myself like the multi-colored. Next begin wrapping the lights all the way around the tree. Start at the bottom and work your way up. Then, break out the ornaments. Some people prefer hanging an assortment of different kinds, while others prefer having a theme. For example, they might only hang all red and gold ornaments. It depends on your taste. You don't want to hang too many ornaments though. You won't have any room for the rest of the decorations.

Next you can hang colored ribbons, or tinsel. Tinsel is a little messy, but it looks very pretty when it shimmers. The ribbons looked beautiful wrapped around the tree, and make it look more elegant. You can also hang candy canes, or popcorn on a string! Finally, you want to top your tree with a center piece. This can be an angel or star. Which ever you prefer, but I personally enjoy the angels. Some people also choose to add a moving train set at the bottom of their tree, or even a nativity scene.
How to Create the Perfect Snow Angel
By Fiona Chauvet

Winter is a fun time of year! There are tons of things to do outside when it snows and one of the best things to do is making snow angels. Snow angels don't require much effort to create, but it's not hard to imagine that some people might have a difficult time constructing one. Here is a quick and easy solution to snow angel making!

First find a good spot in the snow to make your snow angel. It helps if it's out in the middle of an area with no trees. That way more people will be able to gaze and awe at your creation. Then, lay down in the snow with your arms extended and your legs together. Next, move your arms to your sides and towards your head while moving your legs together and out form one another. Keep doing this until you have created a smooth surface in the snow. Then, it's best if you have a friend to help pull you out of the snow, because you don't want to make hand prints in your snow angel from getting up. If you're not lucky enough to have a friend present, try sitting up first. Scoot your bottom forward slightly until your feet are out of the snow angel. Then, pull your body up and forward and stand up. You can now marvel at your beautiful creation!
