Gryffindor Carnival; Riding Rides
By Zack Galman

Gryffindor's Carnival is coming to a close in several days. But that doesn't mean you won't be able to go out and enjoy some of the Rides our very own Head Of House Professor Opal, has provided us! Each one of the rides was personally a very fun enjoyment. Some being very different from others. Let's start from the slowest to most stomach turning rides available.

The Ferris Wheel personally was one of my favorites. It was very slow and didn't do any rotating but made you feel as if you could touch the stars. It is a fun ride to sit on and talk.

The Merry-Go-Round was normally a Muggle ride but we have changed it to fit the Magical ones here at Hogwarts. The animals were painted very vibrantly and were in assorted creatures such as Hippogriffs, Threstals, unicorns and dragons. It once again is on the slow side but gives you the enjoyment of riding with someone and being able to talk.

Aw yes The Bumper Cars. It is a very enjoying ride and commonly ridden to just have fun and enjoy hitting your friends without well, hitting them. It can be kind of fast and very funny. But you can also be able to talk to friends.

The Swings are another fun ride. Meant for you to sit on the swing while it flies round and round the pole. Very enjoying if it is warm and you get a cool breeze. Another great ride for talking and just enjoying looking at the castle or at the carnival below.

The Scrambler is a very fast ride, but yet still on the tamer side. It is not meant for lots of talking but for laughing and just enjoying twisting and turning at large speeds.

For being the fastest ride you think that no one would want to ride it as much? Wrong! The Lion's Paw is very fast and goes at top speed to throw your cart into several 360's. It is easy to talk to others but can make you feel your stomach has been invaded by butterflies.

So in conclusion, you have to guess that you better get out to the fair while there is still time! Don't want to miss any of these amazing experiences!
Gryffindor's Carnival; Dueling Tent
By Zack Galman

The Gryffindor Carnival seems to be the big talk around fellow Gryffindors since it has started on the 5th of August. And we surely know that almost all Gryffindors will dread the day it leaves! The fair will be taken down come either the night or early morning of August 11th. But until that time everyone has been enjoying the numerous varieties of things to do here at the fair. One of the most attentions has been drawn to the dueling tent.

The dueling tent at first was very slow but within the last couple of days the participants have shot up dramatically! There have been sign-up's left and right. Everyone has been much anticipated on the time they have to step up against their fellow Gryffindor. But they are competing for the prize of winning and acquiring the replica of Godric Gryffindor's sword.

Our first duel went very well. 1st year Andie Granger went up against 2nd year Sonic. It was a very long and ruthless battle. But in the end Sonic came out victorious. Though we had one minor mishap. Andie got a little hurt in the process and no one is to blame. She is currently doing fine and commanding the carnival's food booth. Right now as we speak the 2nd duel is in progress, between Gryffindor's 2nd year's Sonic and Hilary Stevens! If you see them, give them the best of luck!
Gryffindor: Boyless?
By Hilary Stevens

When I joined PAD's and was sorted into Gryffindor it was an obvious and I presumed well-know fact that Gryffindor was almost boyless with only one active boy in early December, the boy in question being none other than Gryffindor's well-loved and teased Gawyn Crossguard. Mid-February things looked slightly better with the house being joined by none other than Adam Crawford Jr. They both fit into the house nicely and didn't object much to there being merely two regularly active boys in the house. But could this be about to change? Could Gryffindor's twenty to thirty girls about to have more of a rivalry from the boys dorms? Well evidence certainly points that way as in the past couple of months there has been a massive number of boys join the house, including Wedge, Jason Potter and many others. In fact, there have been ten new boys join Gryffindor and the return of Zack Galman to our house. So all change at Gryffindor, and maybe, just maybe, the girls are on the verge of being overthrown if things keep going this way.
BPB Update
By Adrianna La Cerva
Who says that summer is all play and no hard work?  Not the Hufflepuffs!  We have been busy battling it out for the common good in our latest Badger Point Brawl!  Its a friendly, yet competitive challenge amongst the badgers to see who can earn the most points for our house.  Our August BPB winner, was none other that our very own Daphne Dawlish!!  Daffy contributed 1475 points to the Hufflepuff hourglass last month, and as our BPB winner, she will be receiving 25 Galleons from Prof. Lockhart.  Congratulations Daffy, we love ya!!  Thanks to everybody who participated in this month's challenge and until next time: Brawl on Badgers!
Post-War
By Ava Black

Penshires August Post war was a HUGE success!  Prefect Samuel Craft set up the teams with spiffy new siggys.  The teams were The Death Eaters versus The Order.  The Leader of the Death Eaters was Lord Voldemort played by Sam Craft and the leader of the order was Albus Dumbledore played by Ava Black.  Each team posted their hearts out but only one would win.  So take a guess!  Did evil prevail?  Not a chance!! The order one with over 9,000 post!!  Of course most of that was due to Faith Puppys posting skills!  She managed a whooping 5,120 post!  You go girl.  Now although we won I wouldnt say that the Death Eaters didnt do their fair share of posting.  They managed over 8,000 posts.  The highest poster was Erin Collins with 4,532.  I wouldnt want to see her and Faith post off it might actually be scary!! The post war was a load of fun and the whole house cant wait for Septembers!!
Penshire Prattle
By Ava Black

Penshire has seen a great month in August.  Although we are not in the lead for points like last year our house has been posting up a storm.  I wont give away the actual totals but I guess to say it is at least double any other house!  It has been a hoot posting!  The race is on between Ava Black, Sam Craft and Bryony Casten to reach 40,000 collective house posts.  Who will succeed?  With school starting it is anyones guess.  We have welcomed eleven new students to Penshire so a quick shout out to all the ickle firsties!  Penshire is currently practicing for Quidditch.  The plan is to keep that Quidditch Cup!  Ok so that really sums it up for August!!
Penshire Prattle
By Billy Raven

Newbies galore! Penshire, the house of the Crafty Cranes has seen a huge influx of newbies and some returning students in the month of August and the month isnt over yet! First, Deirde, Guin Talaven and Micah Marrington returned, this was good news for looking at the post numbers of these two, they were major contributors. Then fifteen new students entered the common room door and we could not be more pleased. Most have even stuck around and have gotten involved a lot. There is Marilette Le Blanc, Adarea Winters, Lynn McDowell, Ally Gilmore and Hannah McBee to name a few, sure, all girls, but theres more. Also joining the creative house were Buttercup Weasley, Makayla Malfoy, Attemisc (Atty), Luccio Moone, Aghna O hAodha (Gaelic), Jadzia, Amora Sable and Jimmy Banks! A couple guys in there, though we are still out-numbered. So, we cant wait to see what the rest of the month will bring as surely more will come!
Penshires Posting Wars
By Billy Raven

Yeah, sure, all the houses are doing it now, BUT do they all have special siggie banners to proclaim which team they are on? Penshire has only the best siggie banner maker in the whole school, Samuel Dillon Craft! The last posting war pitted Disneys good characters against evil characters with the likes of Captain Hook fighting it out with Cinderella. There were all the princesss and guy heroes, but right along side of them was the evil queens, witches, and even Hades! The fight was a good one and I am proud to say, for a change, EVIL WON! By that you can guess what team I was on. The siggie banners were awesome with an image of each character on them. We just had our August war and it was just as exciting with the Death Eaters trying to outpost the Order. Our signature images were fantastic with each of us taking on the name of an Order member or a Death Eater! Ava was Albus Dumbledore and well, I was Remus Lupin. Two the highest posters were Erin Collins and Faith Puppy, and this time.good out post the evil! So the order won!
Start of Term in Ravenclaw big on Everyone's Mind
by Will Potter

The House of Ravenclaw is busy preparing for the start of term. Everyone is looking forward to getting back into usual routines, and starting some new classes.

Besides classes, of course, is the thought of points in everyone's head. Ravenclaw is determined to not come in last this year, or even fourth. We have developed a new plan to help earn us more points, and win the house cup. But, I can't tell you what it is.

Just as a fair warning, watch out Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Penshire, and Slytherin, because the ravens are coming.

Games!
By Summer Levy

After the Common Room cleanout at the End-of-Term, there were a starting total of thirty-three games in our Games section in the Ravenclaw Common Room, all rather popular.

However, now, just before the Start-of-Term, there has been a stunning twenty-six new games in addition to our original thirty-three games, totaling up to fifty-nine games! And these new games are, if I may say so myself, rather refreshing and fun to play. It is not a surprise to see so many Ravens post in them each day.

Perhaps there are more games to be added for the enjoyment of my fellow Ravens and myself.
