HER INSTITUTION

Odissi Vision & Movement Centre has been in existence for the past five years. Sharmila is the creative Director & Secretary of this institution.

Odissi Vision & Movement Centre strives to create & support young artists, and help them to develop in them a lifelong faith in themselves and in the magical powers of Odissi dance.   With the aim of promoting Odissi dance & music, the inutitution runs the following units-

Training Unit - It has more than 70 students. Apart from imparting training Odissi classical dance, the institution also offers classes in Folk Dances of Orissa and body fitness programmes for all. The senior students of the institution are send to various Gurus and scholars to get a complete picture of the heritage of Orissa.
Research Unit - The senior students of the institution are invited to assist Sharmila in her various research projects related to Odissi dance & music.
Performing Unit - OVM runs a repertory of professional dancers. The repertory at present has 10 full time dancers.
