The "Beal" as it was known was a limted edition made during the Civil War Years!
Made up North, the "Beal" was a cap and ball handgun. Less accurate but useful. 
While at the battle of Brice's Crossroads,  William Monroe Hill fought well under
command of Lt. General N.B. Forrset.  General Forrest had been shot out from
under the saddle many times. Some number as high as 27 horses shot out from
under Forrest. Major battles include Ft. Pillow, Harrisburg, and Brices Crossroads.
In Memphis, Tennessee the Cavarly rode about the town. Lt. Gen. Forrest and the
raid by fellow members of his Cavarly showed control in Memphis, Tennessee while
John bell Hood was in Tennessee.  Lt. Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest rode into the
Gayosa Hotel, and rode his mount up the main stairway. William Monroe Hill rode
into Alabama with Forrest's Cavarly as its end came in May, 1865.
