The Open University Students Association Regional Forum Posts

These posts are all held by volunteers who live in Southern Europe. SERF Officers are elected at regional level and hold a one-year term (usually September - August).  The Executive Committee Member (ECM) and Student Academic Links (SALs) are elected through a separate e-mail or postal ballot.

Chair: Has overall responsibility for the management of the Regional Forum's affairs. Ensures that the Regional Forum is run effectively and in accordance with its Constitution and ensures all members are given an equal chance to participate in the forum.

Secretary: Ensures that the proceedings of the Regional Forum are properly recorded, ensures that members are properly notified of meetings and ensures that correspondence is dealt with appropriately.

Treasurer: Ensures that the finances of the Regional Forum are properly administered, advises on proposed spending and ensures that all expenses, invoices and bills are paid.

Communications Officer:  Ensures, in coordination with the ECM for Southern Europe, communication between branches within the region.  Keep students in Southern Europe abreast of OU and OUSA activities.

Disabled Student Link (DSL):  Provides information, assistance and support for disabled students within their geographic region, where required, to enable students to overcome any regional problems related to disability issues affecting their ability to study with the Open University.

Student Support Link (SSL):  Provides information, options, assistance and support to students within their geographic region, where required, to enable students to overcome any problems affecting their ability to study with the Open University.

Student Academic Links (SALs):  Act as a point of contact for academic based students in order to enable OUSA to respond to feedback from students.  There is provision for a SAL for each of the following faculties: Arts, Education and Language Studies, Health and Social Welfare, Management, Mathematics and Computing, Science, Social Science and Technology.

Executive Committee Member (ECM):  Is responsible for the proper representation of OUSA in Southern Europe:  Ensures that students are given information through OUSA Branches, Regional Forums and other appropriate channels; Responsible for the representation of regional opinion forwarded by Branches and Regional Forums; visits Branches throughout their Regions; attends forum meetings to explain and promote the policy of the Association.
