Ourgang Staffords

Temperament with Type

Ch Ourgang Queen Moussette “Queen”

L2 HGA & HC Clear, Eye Tested Clinically Clear, Hips Gd 1, Elbows Gd 0

Queen came from another family into the Ourgang household, so she was not actually raised with me, though I virtually lived there while they were growing up, she was raised with a very dear family to me – the Whites. She was the outstanding one in the Litter to me from Day one and was meant to go to my good friend Tracie Zerbst (Watsittoya) but I couldn’t convince her as Queen always looked shocking in photos as a puppy and Tracie’s circumstances changed so she ended up staying.

Queeny Pop is very different from the rest of my dogs in the fact that she is very much the independent, she does her own thing, doesn’t run with the rest and is happy to go about things by herself. Don’t get me wrong – she likes her chasing games with the others and loves the one on one games but she is content to go off on her own, while the others are more reliant on each other.

She is the greatest copy cat and has to do everything that Angel does, the only difference is that Queen is um… not quite as graceful as Angel you could say ... and generally flattens / squashes or mauls the thing she is trying to copy. She comes across as a bit of a dopey Dora but she is really very intelligent and quickly works out the fastest way to get what she wants in the easiest path and is very quick.

Queeny loves cleaning everyone and I think it is this that endears her to her aunt Murtle, who is not known for liking anyone. When I first brought her home I was expecting Murtle’s usual ‘swearing’ at puppy attitude but instead Queen rushed up to her and started to madly clean her and Murt decided she wasn’t so bad after all.

Queenex (she loves ripping up tissues & well, anything that is not nailed down really though luckily she has grown out of it now) is not known for being quiet and is very good at all the Stafford noises and is good at telling you when things are not going how she likes it – just ask Tracie & Kelly. They were to take her from Albury to Wangaratta (about an hours drive) and lasted about 1km with her before they couldn’t stand it any longer and put her back in my car.

We had high hopes for this sweet natured girl and she gained her title, proving our faith in her was justified. To me she is a lovely specimen of the breed though on the heavier side than what some are used to especially in these days of very fine Staffords, which I personally do not believe is correct breed type. She has certainly done well with class in groups wins, many Reserve Challenges (always the bridesmaid) and now enough Challenges for her title (big thanks to my friend Corrine). She was 2nd in a large Minor Class at the Vic specialty show to her sister and 5th in the Puppy Class in the ACT specialty show under Paul Stanway being short listed the day before with Juanita Crawford. She placed 5th under Justine Blyth in 2005 and 2nd under Sarah Hemstock in Aus Bred.

Queen has now had her first (and last) litter which she whelped with ease but developed Milk Fever (Eclampsia) which we got her through but will not breed from her again as the Vets advised if they have Milk Fever once they usually get it worse the next time and the first time was bad enough—believe me! See Litter 11 for her beautiful 3 boys and 4 girls from which I have kept two—Freddie & Oprah, the sire of this litter is our own Scooby Dhu as the dog I originally wanted to use for her first litter was not available. This litter is a mating I had wanted to do later so I guess we were lucky that this was her only litter.

Queen is now desexed and will be enjoying the occasional outing in the Neuter class (she won Neuter in Show at Sutherland ABKC July 06) and get to be the couch potato that she loves the best. She is now residing with her son & daughter PT & Merc in Turramurra as she was my problem child as she caused issues with Angel & Murt which just could not be resolved without trauma. After a break away from here there was no hope of getting her and Angel back together again so she gets to be top dog and enjoy life without fights with Matt. We still miss her greatly but I believe we have done what is best for her as she is no longer the stress bucket she used to be at our place.
