Scooby Dhu (pronounced Doo) is co-owned with Shane & Natalie Dhu and their sons Mitch & Cooper. He lives up in Newcastle with their Steaminstaff bitch, Zoey and his daughter Maysie—Ourgang Seaside Rendezvous. Shane & Natalie were in the real estate business (therefore worked most weekends) and so he wasn't shown much as a youngster but now they have the odd weekend available and I have been taking him places it has finally paid off with his Championship title being awarded!
Scooby is everything I hoped to get out of a cross between Booker and Murtle. Murtle’s head with Booker’s body. His ears are a little untidy as he has one lazy ear sometimes but personally, if judges want to pick on that good luck to them. He moves exceptionally well though he does tend to go very fast and it is hard work to slow him down as he is an exuberant dog.
I am extremely pleased with how he is maturing and think he deserved his title though he does show a little too much attitude towards any large hairy dog (especially Soft Coated Wheatens) which we try to curtail. We were very pleased with his first challenge, BOB and Runner Up in Group in Canberra amongst strong competition even if he did decide to help me modify my car on the way down there. He has followed this up nicely with some big wins as he is one of those that either come first or last.
He has produced his first & fifth litter to Britishpride Choir Girl “Ollie” for Zavstaff Kennels with Zavstaff Pippn The Brave “Lily” being shown by Phil & Janine Ross of Gunnedah, she started off well with a Baby in Group to her name and now has won a few Challenges & is more than half way to her title. His latest litter to Ollie will also has one of the pups in the ring with Zavstaff Demon “Demon” owned by Tish & Maree Zavarise (Zavstaff) .
He had his second litter to Corrine Meurs’ Ch Boldhart Nellie Kelly “Nellie” producing 3 boys & 4 girls with a couple of hopefuls in the ring — Meurlynstaff Smart Remark “Scarlet” — a red bitch who is 15pts off her title & Meurlynstaff Chief Wiggum “Chief” - a mahogany brindle dog on 99pts. We wish them all the best in their future endeavours.
His third litter was to Annette & Wayne Pulford’s Ch Boldhart Coco Chanel “Coco” producing 5 boys & 3 girls—all red. These babies are mainly in pet homes but a couple are being shown—his first Champion, Ch Boldhart HardHartedHanah “Hanah” that Annette herself has, Boldhart Paint the Town Red “Dozer” owned by Pas Yeates who has been doing very well in Victoria & Boldhart Today Willb Mine “Bill”. I have used him myself now over Queen for his fourth litter, (see Litter 11) as he had a lot to offer her, being a very compact dog, terrific topline that does not shift a millimeter on the move, good front, good rear end showing the not often seen these days - drive, movement to die for and great pigmentation. This produced seven great puppies from which I kept two—his second & third Champions Freddie & Oprah whom have their own pages.
Though he is affectionately known as ‘the car killer’ due to his habit of damaging my car or Glenn’s whenever he has stayed at our place, Scooby’s temperament is very sound and living with two young children he has to be. He now just has a reduced nickname “killer” seeing that he tried to kill himself, his sister Angel and his mother Murtle by knocking down Rat Poision from the top shelves in the Garage for them all to share which was a very scary few days for us all and we were extremely lucky not to lose them all. Needless to say, Scooby now only comes here when he absolutely has to!
He is available at stud to approved bitches being an “adder” of a Stud Dog. He will add to what you already have in your girls, improving bone, muzzle strength, topline and movement, adding cleanness & refinement he does not throw himself so extremely handy for a bitch you want to improve on without losing her qualities. |
