Wyld Fire

18nd day of Decending Water, 768
6th of December, 2003

  • Having returned to Tarwin's Reach after helping get the villages back on track after the earthquake, the group set about dealing with the winter
  • While on patrol, c'Tolan spoted a circus which had ventured up from Jasmine
  • As the circus plans to spend a week in the village, c'Tolan instructed them to setup a safe distance from the village
  • After some cautionary words from c'Tolan and some support from Jebu, Handur entered himself into the boxing
  • After beating two of the circus' best fighters, the hopes of the village (and a fair amount of their coin) were riding on the blacksmith as he faced off against the final fighter
  • Unfortunately, despite Handur's strength, his oponent proved a better fighter (thanks to some subtle uses of Essence)
  • After his loss, Handur decided not to accuse the circus of cheating (the last fighter was actually a Dragon-Blooded)
  • Jebu had his fortune read, and was told that he had great danger in his future, and great challenges. He would follow in his father's footsteps, but would also experience great joy and love
  • Jebu decided that the joy and love bit was probably the fortuneteller's standard fare, and the danger and challenges were pretty much to be expected being a Solar Exalted
  • Dianh managed to sneak into both the freak show and the managery (and managed to score herself a tidy amount of coin in the process)
  • Dianh also discovered that the circus had a real Fae, and it was using the circus as a cover to feed
  • The four all heard rumours that the circus had an "anathema", and there were going to display it that night
  • Fearing the worst, Handur and Jebu headded along (Dianh snuck in). Before the "anathema" was revealed, c'Tolan stormed in and demanded to inspect the creature
  • It turn out to be a god-blooded boy with gold paint. C'Tolan left in disgust
  • Shortly after the circus left, c'Tolan encountered another group travelling towards the village
  • This new group was the White Lotus Circle - the Wyld Hunt band the c'Tolan used to be a member of
  • The Wyld Hunt was in town chasing rumours of a possible Luna uniting the barbarian tribes in the mountains
  • After a confrontation with c'Tolan, they organised some of the villagers(including c'Tolan, Handur, Jebu and Dianh) into parties with the aim of flushing the Lunar out of the mountains and into the Wyld Hunt's trap
  • The more shrewed of those selected realised that they were more "bait" for the Lunar trap
  • Having travelled into the mountains and back with only a brief encounter with some wolf beast-men, the group returned to the village
  • As the drew closer, they spotted dark smoke rising up from the village
  • When they reach the main street, they discovered the source of the smoke. At the other end was a large bonfire. The Wyld Hunters had most of the remaining villagers lined up on the knees
  • The Air-Aspected was yelling for someone to show itself, or they'd kill more villagers
  • Despite c'Tolan's treats, several of the villagers were were killed as the Air-Aspected continued to call for someone to show himself
  • While being shot at, c'Tolan charged the Air-Aspect while Handur attempted to reason with the others
  • He managed to convince one of the Hunters, and she attacked the archer, leaving c'Tolan free to deal with the Air-Aspected
  • Using a wagon as cover, he charged forward and threw the wagon. Thanks to his anima, it burst into flames and crashed through the bonfire and into a nearby building
  • As the fire spread, the Air-Aspected leapt into the air, but c'Tolan jumped with him, and cut him in half with a single swing from his mighty direklave
  • After the Air-Aspect's death, the other three quickly surrendered (after the blue-skinned immaculate failed to find Dianh to teach her a lesson for shooting arrows at him)
  • They claimed that the Air-Aspected had gone insane, and had used his sorcery to take control of thier minds
  • The Dragon-Bloods quickly left the village - two entered into the monastery to serve a period of penance while the third returned to the Blessed Isle
  • Blood money was paid to the families of those who had been murdered, and work men were quickly organised to try and rebuild the village
