One night a man had a dream where he walked his favourite winter trail with God. Across the sky flashed many scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the snow. One belonged to him and the other to God. When he came to the final scene , he looked back and noticed that many times in his life there was only one set of tracks. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times of his life. That really bothered him and he asked God about it. "God, you said that once I decided to follow you, you would always be by my side. But, God, I notice that during my most troubled times there was only one set of tracks. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me." God replied, " My very precious child, I love you and would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you only see one set of tracks, it was then my son that I carried you.
