A Collection of Poetry and Writing

A sticky summer night

Playful, bantering by lamp light

Laughing, smiles,

Curled on a blanket

Words flow like rushing streams,

hours pass, becoming a mere trickle

It feels, nice, safe, comfortable

the curves of your arms,

softness in your eyes,

I lose myself looking in

closer, closer…

I can feel your breath

My heart races

Pounding so hard

I’m sure you can hear.

My mind keeps thinking

to brush my lips against yours

What you’d say..

are you thinking the same?

whispering

Detached words

mumblings

in

the

dark

Music Lyrics

Power of Two

Now the parking lots is empty

Everyone’s gone someplace

I pick you up and in the trunk I’ve packed

A cooler and a two day suitcase

Cause there’s a place we like to drive

Way out in the country

Five miles out of the city and then we’re singing

And your hand’s upon my leg

So we’re ok, we’re fine,

Baby I’m here to stop you’re crying

Chase all the ghosts from your head

I'm stronger than the monster beneath your bed

Smarter than the tricks played on your heart

Look at them together than we’ll take them apart

Adding up the total of a love that’s true

Multiply life by the power of two

Now the things that I am afraid of

I'm not afraid to tell

If we ever leave a legacy

It's that we loved each other well

See the shadows of so many people

Trying out the treasures of youth

They are fancy and fast and a fatal crash

And I'm glad we got off to tell you the truth

All the shiny little trinkets of temptation

Something new instead of something old

All you gotta do is scratch beneath the surface and all it is, is fools gold

Now we're talking about a difficult thing

Eyes are getting red

I took us for better and I took us for worse

Don't you ever forget

The steel bars between me and a promise,

Suddenly bent with ease

Closer I am bound to love to you

The closer I am to being free

I would sooner grow old all alone,

Than to have another lover. (Janet)

Projects

Compassion Concert / Mercy Project

(addressing poverty in our society)

Nothing describes the passions of our hearts the way that music does.  Anyone who loves the art will declare that the creation of sound that can communicate feelings that have no words to describe it. So much of our lives are about music, especially those that are avid worship leaders in the church, but most meaningful song is this secret song that the Lord has sung over me. And now to be called to a voice for the voiceless.

The Compassion Concert and Mercy Project grew from an unquenchable desire to run after God in ways that I am unfamiliar with but, love Him in all the ways that I know how.  And right now he’s calling me to love Him by loving his sheep, most specifically the ones that are lost, broken, The sheep that Jesus had the greatest compassion for.  The poor.

How can we worship without having the sense of dissatisfaction for the injustice and the overwhelming need that we see even in our city.  It is time for just one moment to stop living our lives of excess, to build awareness and compassion and awaken our heart to the cries.  Not to feel a sense of overwhelming, or a sense of helplessness, but to stir a spirit of hope and dreams of heaven on earth.

How much would you spend on a movie, with the prices these days, up to 13 dollars or so, and sometimes, the movie is so terrible, you wonder where you have spent your money and more importantly your time.  Take a night to come and worship, come and be encouraged and be challenged.  Bring your $13 but know that you’ll be coming away with much more.   All the money will go to the poor, and your time will spent growing compassion and hope.  Get away from the world of self-centeredness and enter a place where we stop thinking of our selves and our needs and we think of someone else and their needs.  Because every person is important, even if they have a wounded heart, and a beaten body and live on the streets.   God has taken the weak to shame the strong.

Lets make real the passage of the fellowship of the believers that so many of us are inspired by.  Lets live it “giving to anyone as they have need”

“Worshippers look outward, noticing the world they live in and longing to make a difference to the injustice, poverty and pain that surround them.  The heart of an unsatisfied worshipper says  “it wasn’t meant to be this way”  We become intercessors, people who see the gap and long to stand in it.  God imparts to us His heart of restoration and a burning desire to see His love and justice heal the nations.  But our desire must turn into action. Isaiah 58:7,10.  Share our food with the hungry, clothe the naked, satisfy the needs of the oppressed.  God longs to bring us to a place where we ache so much with His heart that to do nothing is simply no longer an option.

CCF Teases (by Albert Wu)

Passion: what are you willing to suffer for

Suffering is a real interesting word to, in my dictionary
sufferer is defined as one who suffers for the sake of principle. As
a Christian I can't help but sit here and wonder how I am a suffer
for the lord. What have I done, and how have I lived my life
following the principles of the bible. I sit here and I find myself
wondering if I really am passionate for the Lord.
Kierkeegard describes the entire Christian community of his time
as a passionateless, bourgeoisie bunch. A group that are Christian that
believe from the comfort of their own soft couches with their hands
folded in their laps. Is Christianity today so much different. We
should be chasing after God, but so many times I find that he has to
chase after us instead. I sit here and wonder how it has gotten to be
like this, especially when Jesus asks me to take up my cross and
follow him!
Well, it's time to start sitting down, it's time to get off our
soft couches and start chasing after God...

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of
witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that
so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked
out for us                                               Hebrews 12:1

What is your passion? what are you willing to suffer for?

STARLIGHT

Your future stands above you
like a star in the sky
     a point of light
           fixed
above the wind and rain of tempests

And if you reach for that light
with the wanting of a child
Surely you will be able to hold
your future in your hands.
