Habitat has special needs right now in the following areas.� Contact�Lisa at 326-1217, ext. 213. Construction volunteers for Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.� Even if you can�t volunteer weekdays, maybe you know someone who can.� Let them know deserving families need their help. A couple of volunteers to drive a Habitat van to pick up donated items.� Must be a licensed driver comfortable driving the vehicle, available at least two mornings a�week, able to lift reasonably heavy items, comfortable dealing with the public, able to follow a schedule, and flexible. Donating Materials, Tools, etc. Because Habitat is building new homes to certain specifications, they cannot use small quantities of miscellaneous building materials.� However, they can�use decent quantities of lumber in good condition, light fixtures new�or in very good condition, and hand or power tools in working order.� Habitat is also happy to accept some used items in working condition that they can resell to support homebuilding: gas ranges, refrigerators, washers, dryers, furniture in good shape, new carpet or carpet like new, new vinyl flooring, cars, trucks, or mobile homes in good shape.� Contact Laura at 326-1217, ext. 201. � To make good use of other items, call ReStore, which is a part of Tucson Metropolitan Ministry.� They take a wide variety of construction� and home items for use in their projects or for resale.� Call 326-1936 for pickup, or drop items off at 2958 E. 22nd St., just west of Country Club on the south side of the street. � Do You Have A Fund-raising Idea? If you have an idea for a fund-raiser to help further Habitat�s work, please feel free to ask for assistance in planning, getting approval and/or conducting it.� (All fund-raisers at OSLC must receive prior approval from the church council.)� �Supporting Habitat for Humanity is a continuing ministry of OSLC.� Offerings to OSLC that are designated for Habitat are encouraged and will be accumulated separately and forwarded. � Construction Info Line To find out when and where you are needed to help�with construction Tuesdays through Saturdays, call Habitat at 566-1217 after 5:00 p.m.�for a recorded message the evening�before you want to work.��For additional information, contact Jim Stevenson�at 321-9534 or email to [email protected]. |
