Welcome to my Great Lakes page. When I told some friends that I was going to make a page about the Great Lakes, some of them asked why the Great Lakes. First of all I grew up in North Central Ohio about an hour's drive from Lake Erie. In college I studied meteorology and climatology in Valparaiso, Indiana, about 20 miles from Lake Michigan. After college I worked for three years at the Michigan State Climatologist's office in East Lansing, then at the Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory in Ann Arbor for three years. So, it just seems natural to make a Great Lakes page.

I have put up pages with some pictures I have taken of and near the Lakes. The first set are from our honeymoon back in June/July 1989. We started in St. Louis, MO, drove to Chicago and followed the Lake Michigan shoreline to Escanaba. From Escanaba we crossed the U.P. to Munising, went to Marquette for an evening, then worked our way over to Paradise/Whitefish Point. From Paradise we went down to The Mackinac Bridge (car trouble in Wisconsin delayed us and kept us from the Soo). We then followed the Lake Huron shoreline down to Bay City/Saginaw then home to Lansing. In 1990, we took a trip to Niagara Falls. The second set of photos is from that trip. The third set is from various trips to Marblehead on Lake Erie. I hope to continue adding more pictures as I have time.
