Virgo represents the Earth in the Fall. It is an Earth sign whose modality (or, form of expression) is mutable.
This means Virgo is changeable, adaptable, flexible and loves
compromise. However, Virgo also insists on perfection more than any other sign in the Zodiac.
It is given the gift of pure thinking, so that the
harvest may be analyzed to see if it was a productive season or not. This factors heavily into the next Earth sign, Capricorn.
For without a productive harvest, the Earth in Winter can be very
cold and can kill.
For pure, objective analysis, no sign in the Zodiac can match Virgo. They are also the perfectionists of the Zodiac, with regard to themselves and others. In the extreme, this can give Virgo a reputation for being a nag, but they cannot avoid their obsession with details. Often they are much harder on themselves than others.
