Libra - The Harmony of Nature

Symbol of Autumn.

LIBRA

Modality - Cardinal.
First Sign of Autumn (Equinox)
Element - Air.

The Zodiac Constellation Libra is represented by the Scales. It has the *unique* distinction of being the ONLY Zodiac sign whose symbol is an inanimate object. The scales of Libra represent a principle, the principle of HARMONY. Although balance is never achieved completely in the real world, since change is the only constant, the principle of balance is the underlying ideal behind Libra's scales.

As the sign Aries (Libra's opposite) represents the self, Libra represents the self in partnership with others. The seventh house of the birthchart is called the House of Relationships for this reason. Partnerships are very important to the Libra, as they feel incomplete without a significant other in their life. Marriage is not the only form of partnership represented here. All forms of relationships fall under the 7th house rulership.

Venus is the ruling planet, bestowing an appreciation for the aesthetics of art, music, culture and creativity to those born under this sign.
