Leo the Lion is the constellation of royalty in the Zodiac. As the Lion is the King of the Jungle in Nature, Leo is the King of the Zodiac. Ruled by the Sun itself, the ego-centered nature of the Leo is purely innocent. In its negative
expression, Leo may be seen as arrogant, self-centered and vain.
In its positive expression, Leo is noble, courageous, generous and warm, often attracting a "solar system" of friends around him/her as diverse as the planets surrounding the Sun.
Leo represents the dynamic, masculine force of the King, but also represents the child as well, innocent and pure. As Cancer
represents the Mother, Leo also represents the Father. These two signs occur back to back in Summer, during July and August, when
the rich fruits of the harvest begin to ripen. It is a time of plenty, unlike winter when food is scarce and advance planning is a necessity for survival.
The kindness, benevolence and cheerfulness of any well-adjusted Leo are an inspiration to all those around him/her, and often Leos are given positions of authority and leadership due to their ability to organize and delegate authority to others. How tactfully this is done will in large part determine the degree of respect they have from those beneath them. Either way, Leo can be tyrant or benevolent monarch, the choice is up to him/her, depending on how the free will each person has is used.
