The Survival Suits
What would you do if you were on a sinking boat in a cold area? The general choices are: panic, run around screaming at everyone to stop the boat from sinking, nothing, or put on a survival suit. Any choice but the last will probably get you killed.
Towards the end of the class, we have a race to get on the survival suits and then get dumped in the Puget Sound and try to swim back. The suits are harder to work with than you would expect. The fastest time for getting a suit on was 26 seconds, however over a minute was not uncommon.
