Hatchery
This is our hatchery. It is located in the downstairs of our building. (You can see the picture of our building by clicking here.) We raise coho salmon which take almost two years to mature from eggs to the fish we release into the Puget Sound.
The white pipes that go into the tanks feed in freshwater from a stream next to our building. The tanks each hold about 4000 fish that are about 9 months old or about 2000 fish that are over 9 months old.
In the background you can see rectangular tanks along the wall. The large white pipe along the ceiling has saltwater which is pumped up from the Puget Sound and runs to the tanks. Those tanks contain organisms we bring up from the beach to study.
