Career Information and Placement Service

The Career Information and Placement Service (CIPS) is a new program under the Office of Student Affairs. Prior to 1998, CIPS was an activity of OSA's Guidance and Counseling Program (GCP). The program aims to assist students in preparing for the world of work through varied activities, and linkages with recruiting companies/organizations. It also encourages the development of self-sufficiency and entrepreneurial skills of students. The main activities are "UP Manila Job Bonanza," a career fair, which includes seminars on job search, entrepreneurship, job interviews, and dissemination of job vacancies for students interested to land a full-time or part-time job.

As a separate program from GCP. CIPS expanded its program starting AY 1999-2000 to include new activities, some of which are:

  • Series of symposium on Career Options for some degree courses in UP Manila
where graduates of the courses are invited to share experiences in their current and previous jobs

  • Series of career talks expanded to include: Trends in the Job Market in the new millennium, Tips on Job Search (focusing on job interviews, resume and application letter-writing), Career Decision-Making Workshops.
  • Assistance to requesting students in tapping companies/organizations that would accommodate them for their practicum/on-the-job-training program.
