| The Kentucky Colonel Award The Brown Hudson Folklore Award Folklore Preservation Award Paul Green Multi-Media Award for the "Mule Egg Seller & Appalachian Storyteller" cd and his efforts in preserving North Carolina history. Orville's biography Mountain Stories/Mountain Roots written by Julia Taylor Ebel was given the Willie Parker Peace History Award. On October 25th, 2007 Orville was given a prestigace Heritage award in Raleigh, North Carolina, the same award Ray Hicks received in 1992. That same day was also special for Orville because it was declared "Orville Hicks Day" in Boone, North Carolina earlier that month by the Mayor of the town of Boone, N.C where Orville has made his home for so many years. |
