The team was established in 1998, when a group of football
playing friends who drink together in the Orsett Hospital
Social club decided to organise themselves properly and join
the Circus Tavern Sunday League. On joining the 7th Division
the team quickly built up a regular following of friends,
parents and other interested parties, who are still watching
them play today, plus many more. The 1998/99 season ended
with promotion to Division 6 and very nearly some silverware
in the form of the League Cup in a close final against Circus
Tavern. A good first season which was a tribute to the then
coach John Pipe and several others who have since become only
supporters, but still play their part from the side line.
In the second season Lenny Warwick, the owner of 'Cranegate'
the team sponsors, took over the management of the team and
brought in his friend Fonzy, an ex pro himself, to coach the
lads. Along with some new players and a renewed hunger for
victory, generally in the team, the second season seemed to
be the turning point for Ohssc football club. At last the
Circus Tavern (Orsett's division 7 bogey opposition) were
beaten 3-0, the game named by many as their favourite for
the club. Following this victory Orsett went from strength
to strength, dispite Oliver Sanders suffering a broken leg,
reaching the division Cup final only to loose out narrowly
to Blackthorn , but kept fighting in the league and with a
better goal difference became the 1999/2000 Division 6 League
Champions. Naturally Orsett gained promotion to Division 3
which was split in two, Orsett being entered in 3B, where
they remained for a second season, but with new signings and
added commitment, the future looks bright, the future looks
ORSETT!!
