A little bit about myself....
Born and still living in Tel-Aviv in my beloved country - Israel. Since graduating from University with a B.A degree in Linguistics and English Literature, I have been teaching English as a Second Language [ESL] to junior high and high school students. Being interested in educational ideas and always searching for innovations, I very soon found myself at the school of education, Tel-Aviv University, studying for a Master of Arts in Educational technology. When I was introduced to cyberspace, I felt at once that this is where I wanted to be. I strongly believe in the vast opportunities that the Internet opens up to learners in general, and to ESL learners in particular. Now, I am trying to master the secrets of the Internet so I can help my students make the best of it. Lately, I have been coordinating the Media-based activities in my school and training both students and staff in the use of the Internet.
A little bit about my interests...
Two years ago I discovered the MOO - Multi user - Object - Oriented environment and learned about Schmooze University- a MOO designed to help ESL students practice and improve their English. Since then, Schmooze has become my second home - the place where I like spending my spare time for both recreational and educational purposes and where I bring my students in order to help them improve their language skills. I'm also a member at GrassRoots, Lingua MOO and River MOO. Please come visit me there any time!
As a devoted MOOer, my thesis is devoted to the exploration of the MOO environment and its potential. The emphasis of the paper is on the users, for whom the environment was designed and without whom there would be no need for a MOO. The aim of my research is to identify the MOOer, her/his needs, motivation and use of the environment, what attracts her/him to the environment and how s/he views her/his membership in the MOO community. Living not far from the beach, I like swimming as well as watching the sea at different hours of the day. Here are some SEA photos which I took during a cruise to the Greek Islands, this summer, 1998.
