Oriya Classics

Objectives

This site is a modest attempt to document and translate Oriya religious, metaphysical and literary texts from the earliest times (around the 10th century AD) to the current period. At present only a handful of translations have been put up. However, with your effort and cooperation it will be possible to make this a comprehensive webpage that can cover various aspects of Oriya literary tradition.

The other aim of this project is to put up original Oriya texts along with the translations for free public access. Currently, due to limited resources, we have been able to put up gif (image files) and pdf (using image files) Oriya texts of only a few poems. However, in the future, with your help we hope to not only have gif and pdf texts, but also itrans and iscii texts which can be read in other scripts than Oriya.

Since the material is vast and the work has just begun you are welcome to contribute to this archive. You can contribute translations of texts as well as submit essays on Oriya culture. If your contribution is accepted, it will be posted in this site and suitably acknowledged. Some of the translations are still undergoing revision. Your suggestions and comments are most welcome. If you are interested to contribute in any way please get in touch with us.
