If you look too deeply inside me
you might find something you don't want to see.
This is not who I always was;
I'm not now who I used to be.
Don't look beyond the surface to reach my core
because what you'll find isn't part of me anymore.
Just try to love me for who I am;
I don't want you to see me as I was before.
You know I love you more than anything;
you've given me more than anyone could bring,
so this is how I want things to stay.
Quiet comfort, holding you as the sun sits,
setting beneath the horizon.

Am I not good enough?
You don't know me very well....
Cigarette smoke ignites my eyes,
so I avoid the flames.
Alcohol consumption is only for those with control,
and I know how much I can take.
I have a car I love to drive,
so you'll never be without a ride.
Music is my heart and soul;
you sing so beautifully.
I'm always thinking about you
even though you don't feel the same.
I don't get jealous of other guys;
I won't try to hold you down.
All my heart and power
is given to you, to lift you to your dreams.
All my guidance is given to you
when you can't find your way.
I give you my security
when you feel like giving up.
I give you my hope and love
to wisk away your fears.
My arms are always open;
if only you'd walk in.
I don't want to force you
to do something you really don't want to do.
I love your eyes and smile.
I adore your sense of humor.
I'd do anything to make you happy,
just to see your eyes light up.
I will go to all your chick flicks
even though I really don't want to.
I won't walk away when times get rough.
I won't leave you like everyone else.
I promise I'll see things your way.
I'd love to meet all your friends.
Everything I have I'll give to you.
Everything I'll ever be, ever hope.
I give you everything,
and still you show me the door.
You think you know me,
but you don't know me very well....
Why am I not good enough for you?
Warmth.
Scarlet passion.
Juicy liquid comfort.
Pulsing, throbbing sensual.
Seismic vibrations to my heart.
A fairytale come true.
Slumber overcoming.
Relaxing.
Sleep.
A timid tiny bird cranes its neck
for a better view of the world.
She lives in a small corner
Where only what she sees is real.
Her new view expands her realm
To never before seen possibilities.
Tossing her old home behind her,
she takes flight into the limitless sky.
Free of the invisible shackles
which once bound her,
she opens her heart and mind
to live as free as a bird.
Brilliant yellow rays filter through a slit in the blinds,
spilling out to light a small path on the green floor.
Emerald reflections leap about the tiny room,
like tiny sparks jumping from the flames of a blazing fire,
lighting the way for a poet's deepest inspiration.
Hanging lazily in the breeze are tiny specks of dust,
weaving in and out, dodging each other in a daring game
to which no one can decipher the rules.
A twinkle of light reflects off the metal arm of the chair,
making its way to the young poet's eyes,
driving him to write further of his view.
But with the prospect of his duty tomorrow,
he tears himself away from the pages bearing his words
so that he may plan and learn for the future.
Trumpets blare the fanfare of a new dawn.
No longer will the people be ignorant of their oppression;
No longer will they forget the past so easily;
No longer will the exploitations of the mighty
be allowed to run rampant.
We have siezed our pride and our hope,
won what we lost so long ago,
and looked upon ourselves in our filth,
saying, "This is not what I want for my children!"
The malignant cancer of politics,
that festering sewer filled to the brim
with the scum of the earth,
has been taken away forever.
It is one world with one people,
united in honor and pride,
working for the betterment of tomorrow.
