The finals are finally here and I'm going bananas! I still haven't finished my art project. So, what I am to do? Well, since the Norton Simon Museum is not so far off from where I live, I decided to visit the place. I browsed through the sculptures, paintings, and so forth. Nothing caught my eye until Saint Cecilia came into view. She was perfect for my project, so I thought. Until I began sketching her. Guido Rene's fluidity and mastery of his craft put me into shame. I have to admit, it looked so easy to draw, yet when you get closer and started to pay attention to every detail in the painting, it was tough. Rene captivated me for he knew how to connect a human being and his/her creator by simply tilting the head and had the eyes focused on heaven. Ever since then, Rene captured my attention and I began reading about him and his work. |
